Chapter 240 Indescribable Emotions
Just as Susan spread her arms and legs, ready for whatever George had in mind, he suddenly stopped.
After waiting a while without feeling his touch, Susan opened her eyes to see George smiling at her.
She looked at him, puzzled but too embarrassed to ask why he stopped.
George gently stroked her cheek and said, "I know you're not ready. I won't force you to do anything you don't want to do. Not now, not ever."
Susan's eyes widened. She felt moved and grateful, mixed with emotions she couldn't quite describe.
She had experienced sex before, and it was rare for a man to hold back in such a situation. But George did, even though she hadn't rejected him or struggled. Maybe he sensed her hesitation and unease.
George was so considerate. What was she still worried about?
Susan told herself silently, 'Forget the past and cherish the future with George, and of course, Spring's future too!'
"George, thank you," she expressed, her eyes tearing up.
"You never need to thank me. I'm lucky to do anything for you," George said, hugging her and stroking her hair like she was a precious treasure.
His words deeply moved Susan, and she silently vowed to treat George, the father of her daughter, wholeheartedly.
George smiled and gently pushed her shoulder. "Didn't you say you had to go to work this afternoon?"
"Yes, I've already taken several days off. There are many things waiting for me at the company," Susan said, standing up from the sofa.
George laughed. "I'm going to the law firm. I'll give you a ride."
"I'll go change my clothes," Susan said, then ran out.
Stepping out of George's house, Susan felt a sudden lightness, especially a hint of relief as if she had narrowly escaped something.
Although she knew this feeling was wrong, it was real, and she could only shake her head, trying to forget it.
In the days that followed, everything seemed to return to normal.
Susan went to work, managed her online store, took care of Spring, and spent time with George. That was her life.
Though her daily routine was simple, Susan felt very happy. This uneventful life was what she wanted, and George gave it to her.
Moreover, her relationship with George was heating up quickly. He was very considerate, and Susan felt happiness had come suddenly, almost unbelievably.
But deep down, Susan knew that no matter how good George was to her, he couldn't give her that heart-fluttering sensation.
Susan knew she was past the age of chasing dreamy love. With Spring in her life, she needed to be practical. George was her choice, a gift for her and Spring. She had to cherish it.
Even though their relationship was heating up, and Susan took care of George's daily needs, they hadn't crossed the final line of intimacy.
Every time George got close, her body would stiffen. She made efforts to conquer this reaction, but her body seemed to have a mind of its own.
Thankfully, George never pushed her and always exercised restraint. Susan felt guilty, yet George reassured her, expressing his admiration for her modesty.
George was now even more devoted to Spring, lifting her high and carrying her around the house every evening. Spring would laugh happily.
Their home was filled with joyful laughter. Though Susan physically rejected George, she had emotionally accepted him, and they felt like a family of three.
As the weather got colder and the New Year approached, the streets were filled with festive vibes.
At work, people were restless, and the boss pretended not to notice.
One afternoon, Isabella called and said she was downstairs at Susan's company, inviting her for coffee.
Entering the coffee shop, Susan spotted Isabella by a window and greeted her with a smile.
"How did you manage to sneak out today?" Susan inquired as she settled into her seat.
"It's the New Year. Who's in the mood to work? The boss doesn't care," Isabella quipped with a mischievous grin.
"How have you been?" Susan asked.
"Same old, back and forth between work and home," Isabella replied.
"Any luck with the potential suitors?" Susan was concerned about Isabella's love life, as she was turning thirty.
"No time for dating! My mom's health is worse, and I'm busy with her and work," Isabella said, frowning.
Susan sighed.
"Enough about me. You mentioned you're with George now?" Isabella shifted the topic.
"I..." Susan began to answer.
Just then, the sound of a cup breaking interrupted them!
A waiter quickly ran to the table near Susan and Isabella, asking, "Sir, are you hurt?"
There was no response, so the waiter said, "Let me get you another cup of coffee."
Still no response. The waiter cleaned up the broken glass and went to get a new cup.
