Chapter 1066 Fawning

Daryl walked into the living room, just about to grab his briefcase and leave, when he unexpectedly saw someone moving around in the dining room.

Daryl frowned and then stepped towards the dining room, only to see someone with a ponytail cooking in the kitchen.

She was wearing jeans and a shirt, with an apron tied around her waist, busily working in front of the stove.

This scene made Daryl, who was about to leave, stop in his tracks, his eyes filled with confusion.

The next moment, Cecilia placed the fried eggs onto a plate, then turned to leave the kitchen, only to see a figure in the dining room, and she was taken aback.

Seeing that Cecilia had noticed him, Daryl quickly looked away.

At this moment, Cecilia hurriedly said, "Breakfast is ready."

After speaking, Cecilia placed the plate of fried eggs at Daryl's usual spot.

Then, Cecilia quickly turned and went back into the kitchen to get something else.

Daryl intended to leave, but seeing the figure in the kitchen, he suddenly couldn't move his legs, and a touch of tenderness inadvertently appeared in his eyes.

Soon after, Cecilia placed the food on the dining table and said, "Mornings are a bit rushed, so breakfast is simple. Just make do."

Hearing this, Daryl looked down at the food on the table and didn't speak for a moment.

These foods must have taken quite some time to prepare, which meant she got up very early.

The next moment, Daryl looked up and saw that Cecilia's eyes were a bit swollen.

At this moment, a strong sense of pity inexplicably arose from his heart.

Then, Daryl quickly lowered his head, picked up his utensils, and started eating breakfast.

Seeing Daryl eating slowly, Cecilia felt a bit anxious about the breakfast she had made.

At this moment, Daryl suddenly said, "Sit down and eat."

Hearing this, Cecilia slowly sat down and quietly ate with her head lowered.

As they ate, Daryl suddenly put down his utensils.

Cecilia looked up and saw Daryl turn and walk to the living room, grab his briefcase, and head towards the front door.

A moment later, Cecilia heard the sound of the door opening and closing.

Knowing he had left, Cecilia breathed a sigh of relief.

Looking down, Cecilia saw that quite a bit of food was left on the table.

Seeing this, Cecilia frowned slightly. She thought, 'It must be that the food I made doesn't suit his taste, so he doesn't eat much. It seems I still need to improve my cooking skills.'

The next moment, Cecilia continued eating and picked up a cookbook to read while eating.

That afternoon, as Cecilia just walked out of class, someone called out to her, "Cecilia!"

Cecilia turned her head and saw Barry running up to her.

"Barry, I'm sorry about last night," Seeing Barry, Cecilia apologized.

Barry didn't mind at all and instead asked with concern, "Is your friend okay? If you need help, you can tell me."

Hearing this, Cecilia blushed, feeling guilty for lying to Barry.

Then, Cecilia shook her head and said, "It's all resolved, thank you."

"That's good." Barry nodded with a smile.

Then, Barry took a hardcover copy of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" out of his backpack and handed it to Cecilia, saying, "Didn't you want to read it? I asked a friend to get a copy, take it."

Seeing the "One Hundred Years of Solitude" in Barry's hand, Cecilia excitedly took the book from him and said in surprise, "It's a hardcover edition, that's great! I couldn't find it in any of the bookstores around here."

Cecilia had been wanting to read it recently but couldn't find a copy. She didn't expect Barry to remember her casual remark.

Seeing Cecilia so happy, Barry smiled knowingly.

"I'll finish it as soon as possible and return it to you," Cecilia said, smiling at Barry.

Barry replied, "No rush, I’m not reading it anyway. It's just sitting there."

"Thank you." Hearing this, Cecilia smiled gratefully.

Then, Cecilia put the book into her backpack and said, "Goodbye!"

"Goodbye!" Barry wanted to say more, but seeing Cecilia already walking away, he waved at her back.

After that day, Daryl hadn't appeared at all.

Cecilia was quite happy with the peace and quiet. After classes each day, she would do housework, read "One Hundred Years of Solitude," and study the cookbook.

In a few days, Cecilia had made several dishes according to the recipes, and she had made significant progress.

That afternoon, after school, Cecilia had just walked out of the school.

Barry suddenly smiled and stepped forward to block Cecilia's path.

"Barry?" Seeing Barry, Cecilia smiled and greeted him.

Barry looked at Cecilia, and after a moment, shyly asked, "Cecilia, I know a good restaurant nearby. Since we have classes in the afternoon, why don't we grab a quick bite together?"

Hearing Barry's invitation to lunch, Cecilia frowned slightly because she had never had a meal with another male classmate before.

Sensing Cecilia's hesitation, Barry quickly said, "Have you finished that 'One Hundred Years of Solitude'?"

"I had only skimmed through it before, but now I'm reading it in detail." Mentioning it piqued Cecilia's interest.

At this moment, Barry quickly said, "I also love this book. We can discuss it while we eat."

"Okay." Hearing this, Cecilia nodded.

Seeing Cecilia nod, Barry was overjoyed and quickly walked side by side with Cecilia to the restaurant ahead.

Cecilia sat by the window in the restaurant, and after Barry ordered, he sat across from Cecilia and animatedly discussed the book with her.

During their conversation, Cecilia found that Barry also had a lot insights about it.

In the end, Cecilia rested her chin on her hand, looking at Barry with an appreciative gaze.

At this moment, outside on the street, a man in a silver-gray suit was standing not far away.

His eyes were coldly staring at Barry and Cecilia sitting in the restaurant.

At this moment, Cecilia's focused gaze on Barry made Daryl very angry, and his hand unconsciously clenched into a fist.

Cecilia and Barry were eating and laughing, so engrossed in their conversation that they didn't notice Daryl watching them from outside the window.

Daryl stared at them for several minutes before turning and walking away quickly.

"Mr. Fields?" Douglas saw Daryl leaving angrily and quickly followed him.
