Chapter 95 Misunderstanding

At 3 AM, Susan got up to check George's forehead. His fever was gone, so she went back to sleep on the couch.

When morning came, Susan felt movement next to her. She opened her eyes to see George, in pajamas, squatting by the couch, staring at her.

Startled, she sat up quickly.

George, noticing her alarm, awkwardly pointed to the blanket. "It fell earlier, so I covered you."

"Thanks," Susan said, tucking her hair behind her ear and blushing as she realized she was still in George's white shirt.

Sensing the awkwardness, George stood up, touched his hair, and smiled. "Actually, I should thank you. If you hadn't brought me medicine and stayed all night, I'd still be out of it!"

Susan looked down, wanting to stand but feeling the shirt was too short, barely covering her.

George noticed and quickly looked away. "Sorry, my clothes were wet last night, so I wore your shirt," Susan mumbled.

Why was this so awkward?

"I saw your clothes. They're still wet. I'll get a hairdryer," George said, heading to the bathroom.

Susan saw it was 7:30. "I'll make breakfast," she said, heading to the kitchen.

George dried her clothes in the bathroom while Susan made breakfast, both avoiding each other.

Susan set the breakfast table and heard the hairdryer still running. Her clothes weren't dry yet, so she felt awkward calling George to eat and decided to wait.

Then, the doorbell rang!

With the hairdryer noise, George didn't hear it. After the second ring, Susan reluctantly opened the door.

She was shocked to see Seb's angry face.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, confused.

Seb's anger flared as he saw Susan in George's shirt, her collarbone and legs visible, her sleepy eyes and messy hair making the scene suggestive.

"Did I interrupt your fun?" Seb's words were cold and sarcastic, his gaze icy.

Seb's words snapped Susan out of her awkwardness. She put her hand on her hip and shot back, "We're just strangers now. You have no right to judge me!"

Seb clenched his fists, then pushed past her and stormed in.

Seeing the two breakfasts on the table, his face darkened even more. "George Anderson, get out here!" he yelled.

George came out of the bathroom, holding a hairdryer in one hand and Susan's clothes in the other. He looked stunned to see Seb. Handing Susan her clothes, he said, "Your clothes are dry. Go change."

Susan took the clothes, trying to stay calm but feeling guilty while Seb looked like he was about to explode.

This simple exchange set Seb off even more.

"My elder brother, what are you doing here?" George greeted Seb with a smile.

Hearing "brother," Susan was shocked. They were brothers?

No wonder they had the same last name and looked alike. She should've realized something was up when Seb acted so casual in George's office.

Susan was floored. She'd tried so hard to avoid Seb, only to find out her boss, George, was his brother. How frustrating.

George's smile didn't calm Seb. Instead, Seb grabbed George's pajama collar and snarled, "Look at what you've done!"

"What did I do?" George looked genuinely confused.

Susan felt dizzy, unsure whether to intervene or just stand by.

Seb looked between George and Susan, at a loss for words, then pointed angrily. "You two are messing around, have you shameless!"

With that, Seb threw a plastic bag onto the couch and stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

The door slam made Susan's heart jump.

George, however, just said to the door, "What's gotten into you today?"

"Is he your brother?" Susan asked, needing confirmation.

"Yeah," George nodded, picking up the plastic bag Seb had thrown. It contained several boxes of cold and fever medicine.

"After I took you home last night, he called me. He was probably bored and wanted to go drinking. I felt unwell halfway through, so I came back. Looks like he came to bring me medicine today but misunderstood when he saw you here," George explained with a laugh.

"Shouldn't you explain to him?" Susan asked. She didn't care about Seb's feelings anymore but didn't want to be seen as loose.

George smiled. "I'll explain when I get a chance. He's been emotionally unstable lately due to a breakup."

Susan paused, wondering if the emotional distress George mentioned was because of her or Cynthia.
