Chapter 645 Heartbroken
Suddenly seeing this line of text, Rylee's eyes slowly welled up with tears.
'What does he mean by this? What does he mean by hoping she is still waiting for him? And who is this "she"?' Rylee thought.
For a moment, Rylee felt a chill all over, and her shoulders began to tremble violently.
So it turned out he didn't love her, but Susan? The woman who captivated Seb and caused her family to fall apart?
In an instant, Rylee recalled everything.
'No! This is definitely not a coincidence; it's a conspiracy, a huge conspiracy.' she couldn't help but think.
Andrew and Susan must be in cahoots. They each seduced her and Seb to seize the Anderson Family's assets.
No wonder ever since she and Andrew returned to the country, her family had been plagued with incidents. Susan even used Catherine to seduce Todd, and then Carol suddenly fell down the stairs and died. All of this must have been their deliberate arrangement.
For a moment, Rylee felt like she was about to break down. She had once trusted Andrew so much, thinking he was her lifelong support, but it turned out he had been scheming against her all along.
The pain was sharp, a piercing reminder of Carol and Todd's suffering. She and Seb, they were both victims in this twisted scheme.
An hour crawled by as Rylee sat on the bed, paralyzed by the truth. It felt surreal, like a nightmare she couldn't wake from.
The shrill ring of her phone shattered the silence. It was Gavin.
She wiped the tears from her cheeks, cleared her throat, and answered the call. "Dad?"
"Rylee, are you awake?" Gavin asked with a smile.
"I'm awake. I'll head to the hospital right away." Rylee couldn't concentrate on talking to Gavin.
Gavin quickly said, "Anouk said you don't need to come to the hospital. Since it's still early. Why don't you head back to Maple Valley? I know you're not comfortable staying here."
"Dad, I'll go to the hospital to see Mom first, then I'll head back to Maple Valley." After saying that, Rylee hung up the phone.
After hanging up the phone, Rylee placed Susan's photo into the diary, then put the diary into her bag. She locked the drawer again, put the key back in its place, and finally left for the hospital.
Rylee stood at the door of the ward for a minute to calm her emotions before walking in.
"Mom!" Rylee called out.
Anouk was in much better spirits, half-lying on the hospital bed and talking to Rylee, "Rylee, come over and sit down."
Rylee sat by Anouk's bed, and Gavin quickly said, "I'll go buy some fruit."
The caregiver went to wash Anouk's clothes, leaving only Anouk and Rylee in the single ward for a moment.
The more Anouk looked at Rylee, the more she liked her. She smiled and said, "I used to think you were a spoiled rich girl and that we wouldn't get along. But you're such a dear. So well-mannered, respectful, and kind to both Andrew and us. The Martin family is lucky to have you."
Hearing this, Rylee blurted out without thinking, "Mom, actually, Andrew's ex-girlfriend was pretty nice too."
Anouk was taken aback by Rylee's sudden comment.
Seeing Anouk's reaction, Rylee realized she might have spoken too abruptly and smiled. "Mom, don't be surprised. Andrew told me about his relationship with a girl named Susan."
Hearing this, Anouk relaxed and said, "So you know. Actually, Susan was a nice girl too. I remember many years ago, Andrew brought her to see us a few times. She was a poor child, strong-willed, unlike you. I feel Andrew is more suited to you. You're gentle, well-behaved, pure, and cute. Susan is an independent girl who wouldn't back down from Andrew. They would have clashed, I'm sure."
Hearing this, Rylee clenched her fists.
Sure enough, the diary was right. Andrew and Susan did date, and Andrew even brought Susan home.
The dates in the diary revealed a three-year relationship, a significant commitment. Even if Andrew had developed feelings for someone else during that time, it wouldn't have happened overnight. She and Andrew had barely known each other for two days before he confessed his feelings. It was becoming painfully clear that Andrew was drawn to her family's wealth and status.
Besides, Andrew's diary mentioned his strong desire to study abroad in Averlake but lamented the lack of means and money.
At this moment, Rylee was particularly heartbroken. She had always thought that Andrew loved her, but he had been acting all along.
Moreover, the sentence on the final page of his diary revealed his most sinister intention: once he achieved success, he would dump her and go back to Susan. Or maybe he and Susan had never really broken up, and marrying into the Anderson Family was part of their plan.
At this moment, the more Rylee thought about it, the more terrified she became.
No, she couldn't let the Anderson Family be destroyed because of her love for Andrew. She couldn't let Andrew and Susan succeed!
The next moment, Rylee suddenly stood up and said, "Mom, there's only over an hour before it gets dark. I'll head back to Maple Valley now."
Seeing her sudden decision to leave, Anouk quickly said, "Gavin went to buy fruit. Wait for him to come back before you go."
"I won't wait. Mom, take care." After saying that, Rylee turned and left resolutely.
She ran to her car, started the engine, and drove straight back to Maple Valley.
On the way, Rylee's mind was in chaos.
However, she had made up her mind. She would give the diary to Seb and let him handle it because she really couldn't manage it. She felt like she was about to collapse!
Rylee cried as she drove, her tears blurring her vision of the road ahead.
A while later, Gavin returned to the ward with the fruit.
"Hey, where's Rylee?" Gavin asked, glancing at the empty ward.
"She went back to Maple Valley," Anouk replied.
"Why did she leave so quickly?" Gavin asked curiously.
At this moment, Anouk frowned and said, "I feel like something's off."
"Why?" Gavin asked, puzzled.
"She suddenly mentioned Susan and seemed very troubled," Anouk said.
"Susan?" Gavin asked, frowning.
Seeing that Gavin didn't remember Susan, Anouk frowned and reminded him, "The girlfriend Andrew brought home many years ago!"
"Why did she bring her up out of the blue?" Gavin asked curiously.
