Chapter 1055 You Tricked Me on Purpose
The manager glanced at Cecilia angrily and said, "This suit is custom-made by hand, over a thousand dollars, which is half of your monthly salary!"
Hearing this, Cecilia's eyes widened.
She thought this suit must have been borrowed by Daryl from a wealthy friend to show off, because he couldn't possibly own such an expensive outfit.
At this moment, the manager spoke up, "Today's incident is your responsibility, so the bar won't cover it. You'll have to pay for the suit yourself."
Hearing this, Cecilia felt helpless and could only say, "Manager, but I don't have that much money."
She was studying in Northstar City on a scholarship, and she sent all her living expenses back home, relying on part-time jobs to make ends meet.
"Then it will be deducted from your salary!" The manager said with a frown.
"But..." Cecilia had only been working for a few days, which meant she had lost half her month's salary. How was she supposed to live?
"Alright, get back to work and be careful. If you make another mistake, your salary won't be enough to cover it!" The manager said impatiently.
With no other choice, Cecilia left the manager's office dejectedly.
Back at the front, Luna immediately came over and asked with concern, "Are they going to deduct the money for that customer's suit from your salary?"
"How did you know?" Cecilia asked, puzzled.
"This has happened before. The manager always does this, so we have to be extra careful when working," Luna said.
Cecilia didn't feel too wronged about this; after all, it was her own fault.
At this moment, Cecilia looked around the bar but didn't see Daryl.
Seeing Cecilia's gaze, Luna said, "That customer has already left."
Hearing this, Cecilia frowned and cursed Daryl in her heart.
"Hey, what was your relationship with that customer?" Luna suddenly asked, curious.
Looking at Luna, Cecilia saw no need to lie and said, "Ex-boyfriend."
Luna was surprised and said, "Your ex-boyfriend is really handsome! He was dressed in custom-made clothes from head to toe; his family must be rich. Why did you break up? It seemed like he was deliberately causing you trouble; maybe he still has feelings for you?"
"His family is quite ordinary. He was just pretending to be rich today. His clothes must have been borrowed!" Cecilia said dismissively.
Cecilia was really angry with Daryl pretending to be rich. Because of him, she lost half a month's salary and would suffer for the next month.
Hearing this, Luna's eyes widened. "What? Men can be that vain too?"
"Alright, stop gossiping and get back to work. If I make any more mistakes, I won't get my salary this month!" Cecilia had no mood for chatting and buried herself in work to suppress her emotions.
Three days later, Luna brought Cecilia some explosive news.
"Cecilia, why do you lie me? Your ex-boyfriend is a rich second-generation, and you said he was poor. Are you kidding me?" Luna complained while wiping tables, looking unhappy.
Luna was a straightforward person; her emotions were always written on her face.
Cecilia frowned and asked, "Who told you he's a rich second-generation?"
Seeing Cecilia's confused look, Luna asked, "You don't know either?"
"Who did you hear this from? When I was with him, his spending was very ordinary. He cooked for himself and wore regular clothes," Cecilia said.
Luna quickly said, "I just heard it from the manager. The manager gave the compensation for the suit to your ex-boyfriend's driver. The driver said your ex-boyfriend is the CEO of a company in Northstar City, which is a subsidiary of a sizable group in Luminara, and your ex-boyfriend is the boss's son!"
"What?" Hearing this, Cecilia was stunned.
She knew Luna wouldn't lie to her. Thinking back to her time with Daryl, he was just an ordinary student, sharing an apartment with another student and cooking for himself. How could he be a rich second-generation?
"Maybe your ex-boyfriend deliberately lied to you? Maybe his family is really wealthy, and he was afraid you'd be after his money. I've heard many rich people pretend to be poor." Luna speculated.
Hearing her words, Cecilia thought about the luxury car Daryl had taken her in, the mansion they went to, and the box full of money. These couldn't all be borrowed.
She couldn't help but think, 'Is Daryl really a rich second-generation? Why does he pretend to be an ordinary person in front of me? Is he afraid I would be after his money?'
For a moment, Cecilia could only smile bitterly.
Although Cecilia was angry and hurt, Daryl was already in the past. They had no relationship anymore, so Cecilia forced herself not to think about him.
Every day, Cecilia had only two things to do: attend classes and work. Besides these, she only ate and slept.
By the time Cecilia lay in bed, it was already three in the morning. Exhausted, she had no time or energy to think about Daryl and fell asleep as soon as she closed her eyes.
One afternoon, Cecilia returned to her rented apartment building with her books.
Unexpectedly, a luxury car was already parked by the roadside.
That extended luxury Mercedes looked familiar to Cecilia. Sure enough, the next moment, the driver opened the door, and a handsome man in a black suit stepped out.
Seeing that figure, Cecilia instinctively stopped in her tracks.
She knew he was here to see her, and her eyes were fixed on him.
The next moment, Daryl walked up to Cecilia.
"Daryl, you tricked me on purpose, didn't you?" Cecilia questioned.
Hearing this, Daryl raised an eyebrow and said calmly, "Think whatever you want."
Cecilia laughed bitterly. "If you're here to see me suffer, you've succeeded. Why do you still want to bother me? Does this game give you pleasure?"
Noticing the pain in Cecilia's eyes, Daryl suddenly sneered. "This is the kind of games rich people like to play. You wouldn't understand!"
"Ridiculous!" Cecilia said coldly and turned to leave.
But Daryl stepped forward and blocked her way.
"What do you want?" Cecilia glared at Daryl.
