Chapter 980 We Are Couple
Hearing Leon's voice behind her, Isabella yawned, closed the file, and waddled over to the bed, cradling her belly. She plopped down and said, "I can't figure this out tonight. I'll deal with it another day."
Leon grinned and took her hand. "We've got plenty of time for this stuff. No rush. If you're still stuck, I'll walk you through it."
Isabella leaned her head against Leon's chest. "You've handed over all your assets to me. Honestly, it's a lot of pressure. I'm an accountant, sure, but I've never managed this much money before. The most I've handled was a few thousand bucks."
Leon chuckled and patted her back. "If I knew it was stressing you out this much, I would've hired a financial advisor."
"No way, I need to manage my own assets to feel secure." Isabella immediately lifted her head.
Seeing her worried expression, Leon laughed. "It's better with you. You take care of me and my assets."
"Stop flattering yourself." Isabella pouted.
Leon laughed. "Yeah, I'm ugly, henpecked, and full of flaws. No one would be interested in me."
Isabella shot him a look. "But sometimes, there are women interested in you, like that Bronte."
"Why bring her up again?" Leon's face turned a bit awkward.
"Has she contacted you recently?" Isabella asked, a hint of jealousy in her voice.
"I'm on a long vacation and haven't been to work. She wouldn't contact me for business," Leon quickly explained.
"But she could contact you for personal reasons." Isabella pursed her lips and stared at him.
Feeling guilty under her gaze, Leon quickly said, "It's late. Let's go to sleep. The baby is tired."
"No way, you have to tell me the truth. How many times has Bronte tried to get close to you? Did she ask you out? Or has she already confessed her love?" Isabella pressed on.
Thinking back to the Prosperity Group's annual meeting when Bronte flaunted herself, Isabella felt uneasy.
"Bronte did try to get close, but I never paid her any attention. Besides, we're married now. She's given up," Leon frowned and explained.
"Good. If she bothers you again, don't blame me for being rude!" Isabella threatened.
"She wouldn't dare." Leon smiled, helped Isabella lie down, and turned off the light.
Just as Leon lay down, Isabella said, "Oh, I forgot something."
"What is it?" Leon asked, a bit wary.
Isabella replied, "We've been married for a few days, and you haven't taken me to see your mom yet. How about we go see her tomorrow? As your wife, I should pay her a visit."
Hearing this, Leon hugged Isabella and said lovingly, "Alright, we'll go together tomorrow."
The next morning, Leon took Isabella to a suburban nursing home.
Strangely, Nora was super happy to see Isabella. She was calm and kept chatting about Leon's childhood. Even though she repeated herself a bit and her eyes seemed a little vacant, she didn't seem like she had schizophrenia, especially when she reached out to touch Isabella's belly.
Isabella felt really sympathetic towards Nora, so she helped her comb her hair, change into clean clothes, and wash her feet. It was the least she could do as her daughter-in-law.
Leon was really touched by Isabella's actions. Knowing how much Leon worried about Nora's illness, Isabella held his hand and promised to take care of Nora with him in the future.
That evening, Isabella attended the wedding banquet all dressed up.
Leon hosted the wedding banquet at the swankiest hotel in Maple Valley. Isabella, in a red dress with gold embroidery, stood beside Leon, who was rocking a black suit. Despite her prominent belly, her face was glowing with joy.
Susan showed up in the private room, holding Seb's arm.
Seeing Susan, Isabella immediately went up to her.
"Susan!" Isabella grabbed Susan's hand.
Susan looked Isabella up and down and smiled, "You look stunning today. I wish you and Leon a long and happy life together. This is a wedding gift from Seb and me!"
With that, Susan pulled out a velvet box from her bag and handed it to Isabella.
Isabella smiled as she took the box. When she opened it, she gasped, "It's gorgeous!"
Inside the velvet box was a gold and jade brooch, sparkling under the crystal light.
"I knew you'd love it." Seeing Isabella's delight, Susan smiled.
Isabella closed the box and joked, "This gift is a bit pricey, but with your high salary and rich husband, I'm happy to accept it!"
Susan joked back, "Don't think I don't know. You're rolling in dough now too."
"Did Kathy spill the beans?" Isabella immediately guessed who had leaked the news.
"I always knew Leon was a responsible man. I was right," Susan said.
Hearing this, Isabella glanced at Leon, who was chatting with Seb by the floor-to-ceiling window, and smiled shyly, "He's really good to me."
"Then you better cherish him." Susan patted Isabella's hand.
"I will." Isabella smiled.
Meanwhile, Leon and Seb were having a good chat.
Seb patted Leon's shoulder and said with a grin, "I never thought Isabella would be the one to tame you!"
Leon glanced at Isabella and said, "I owe her a lot."
Seeing the guilt and melancholy in Leon's eyes, Seb comforted him, "You guys are a team now. You share everything, the good and the bad."
"That's true. Mr. Anderson, I can see you're doing great in both love and career." Leon smiled.
Seb replied, "Of course."
"Well, here's to happy families for all of us," Leon added.
"Family happiness is important, but you should also stay on top of your job. I'll give you another week off. You should be able to return to work by then, right?" Seb said.
