Chapter 1064 Chickened Out
Hearing this, Cecilia felt a bit embarrassed.
Four dishes and a soup, none of them tasted good.
At this moment, Cecilia's phone suddenly rang.
Looking down, Cecilia was dumbfounded.
It was Barry's number. Barry had asked her to go to the opera, but she had forgotten it.
She must have been too busy earlier, rushing to buy pajamas, groceries, and then cooking, that she forgot about it.
"Sorry, I need to take this call." Cecilia picked up her phone and quickly got up to answer it in the hallway.
Feeling guilty, Cecilia didn't notice Daryl's scrutinizing gaze.
After answering the call, Cecilia lowered her voice as much as possible and said, "Barry, I'm sorry, something urgent came up, so I can't go to the opera with you. Why don't you go by yourself?"
On the other end, Barry, hearing this, couldn't help but ask with concern, "Cecilia, are you in some kind of trouble? Where are you now? Do you need me to come over and help?"
"No," Cecilia shook her head vigorously and said, "It's just a friend who needed help with something urgent. I can't talk now, that's it, goodbye!"
After saying that, Cecilia immediately hung up.
Looking down at the still flashing phone screen, Cecilia felt very guilty for not going to Barry's appointment.
But there was no other choice; she had to put Daryl first, because he was his boss now.
Then, Cecilia sat back down at the dining table.
At this moment, Daryl stared at Cecilia across the table and asked, "Whose call was that?"
Cecilia looked up to meet Daryl's gaze and said guiltily, "Well, a classmate wanted to borrow a book."
Daryl scrutinized Cecilia with his eyes and suddenly said, "Pour me a glass of red wine."
Cecilia quickly responded and got up to find the wine in the cabinet.
Soon, Cecilia opened a bottle of red wine, took a glass, poured it, and placed it in front of Daryl.
Daryl glanced up and said, "Pour yourself a glass too."
Hearing this, Cecilia was taken aback; she never drank alcohol.
"Haven't you heard that wine can set the mood?" Daryl suddenly said.
Hearing this, Cecilia was stunned again.
She couldn't help but think, 'What does he mean? Is he implying that it's easier to have sex if both are drinking?'
Cecilia's face immediately blushed, and she turned to get a wine glass to hide her embarrassment.
Standing in front of the wine cabinet, Cecilia took a deep breath after grabbing a glass.
She knew what would likely happen after a good meal and drinks. Although she was mentally prepared, she was still quite nervous.
The next moment, Cecilia walked back to the dining table, poured herself a glass of red wine, and placed it in front of her.
Then, Daryl started eating and drinking, ignoring Cecilia across the table.
After that, the two at the table didn't communicate anymore, both eating in silence, with only the sound of chewing filling the air.
Cecilia felt the atmosphere was very tense and didn't even want to look up, just drinking red wine and eating her food.
After half a glass, Cecilia started to feel a bit dizzy.
'This wine is really something; if I get drunk, I won't have to know what would happen next.' Thinking of this, Cecilia tilted her head back and finished the rest of the wine in her glass.
At this moment, Cecilia suddenly heard the sound of utensils being placed on the table.
She looked up and saw Daryl wiping his mouth with a napkin before standing up.
He must be done eating, and the half-drunk Cecilia suddenly felt nervous.
The next moment, Daryl glanced at Cecilia's flushed face, slightly raised an eyebrow, and said, "I have work to do. Don't disturb me in the study!"
After saying that, Daryl turned and walked into the study, closing the door behind him.
Hearing this, Cecilia was stunned for a long time.
She thought he was going to have sex with her right now, but it seemed she was overthinking it.
The next moment, Cecilia held her head, feeling dizzy.
Holding onto the table, the dizzy Cecilia managed to clear the leftovers and put the dishes in the sink, unable to wash them, and then made her way upstairs.
Throwing herself onto the bed, Cecilia closed her eyes.
She didn't know when, but a drowsy Cecilia was awakened by the sound of the phone ringing.
Picking up the phone, Cecilia was immediately startled awake.
Because the screen was flashing with Daryl's number.
"Hello?" Steadying herself, Cecilia answered.
On the other end, Daryl's cold voice came through. "Come to my room at eleven."
After saying that, Daryl hung up.
The drowsy Cecilia was instantly wide awake. Looking up at the clock on the wall, it was already ten-thirty, which meant she had half an hour.
At this moment, Cecilia suddenly smiled bitterly at her phone, thinking, 'Go to his room? What does that mean? Sex?'
Cecilia suddenly felt nervous all over. This scare sobered her up, and she thought about going downstairs to open another bottle of red wine and chugging it.
Although she was very reluctant, Cecilia still went to take a hot shower and then changed into the pajamas she bought at the mall that afternoon.
Standing in front of the dressing mirror, Cecilia stared at herself.
Smooth skin, long hair like a waterfall, a lace-trimmed slip dress revealing her neck and shoulders.
After dawdling for a long time, Cecilia finally knocked on Daryl's door at exactly eleven o'clock.
"Come in!" Daryl's voice quickly came from inside.
Hearing the voice, Cecilia took a deep breath and then pushed the door open to enter the master bedroom.
Taking a step into the master bedroom, Cecilia saw Daryl leaning against the headboard in an off-white robe.
The robe was loosely tied, the collar slightly open, revealing his sexy chest muscles.
Cecilia immediately stopped in her tracks and lowered her head, feeling her face heat up.
Although she had mentally prepared herself earlier, Cecilia still wanted to chicken out at this moment.
