Chapter 1366 You Don't Dare to Verify
"Who's the bride? You gotta tell me who you're marrying, right?" Azalea's expression turned serious as she listened to her youngest son speak so earnestly.
Elijah glanced at Daryl, whose eyes were particularly dark and his face looked terrible.
Elijah then replied, "Mom, I've brought her here. She's outside."
"Well, bring her in already!" Azalea hurriedly tidied her hair.
Elijah was about to turn and invite the person outside in.
Unexpectedly, Daryl suddenly stood up and said coldly, "Congrats to you both. I'm done eating, I'm heading upstairs."
"Daryl, where are you going?" Azalea frowned as she saw her eldest son leaving.
"Mom, I've already congratulated him. Do I need to stay here and be humiliated further?" Daryl's tone was very unpleasant.
"You should be happy that your brother is getting married. What are you saying?" Azalea scolded Daryl.
Daryl didn't respond, turning his back to Elijah, not wanting to see his happy face.
Seeing Daryl's reaction, Elijah couldn't help but smirk and then deliberately said loudly, "Daryl, I'm getting married. Don't you want to see my future wife?"
Daryl, still with his back to Elijah, sneered, "I'm not interested in who your future wife is. I'm just curious how you have the nerve to keep living in the Fields Mansion."
Elijah laughed, "My future wife and I have nothing to be ashamed of. Why shouldn't we live in the Fields Mansion? We plan to live here happily."
Then, Elijah stepped forward and gently touched Thaddeus's cheek, smiling, "Thaddeus, you're going to have a little brother or sister to play with soon. Aren't you excited?"
Hearing this, Azalea and Daryl exchanged shocked glances.
"Elijah, what did you say? She..." Azalea looked at her youngest son, too surprised to speak.
Elijah smiled and replied, "Mom, she's pregnant. That's why I'm in such a hurry to get married."
Hearing this, Azalea was overjoyed. She grabbed Elijah's arms excitedly, "Pregnant? Oh, good boy, this is the best thing you've ever done. I'm going to have another grandchild, whether it's a grandson or granddaughter, Thaddeus will have a playmate. This is wonderful!"
In contrast to Azalea's joy, Daryl's hands clenched into fists, his face darkening.
Seeing his mother so happy, Elijah couldn't stop grinning.
Azalea quickly pushed her youngest son, "Why are you still dawdling? It's so cold outside, hurry and bring her in. Don't let my grandchild catch a cold!"
"Right, right." Elijah quickly went outside to call her in.
At that moment, Daryl was about to leave.
"Stop!" Azalea called out loudly.
Daryl reluctantly stopped.
Azalea approached him, her voice softening as she looked at his dark expression. "Daryl, it's not what you think."
"Mom, what do you think it is?" Daryl's voice grew agitated.
"Your brother and Cecilia aren't like that. I believe they're innocent. I used to be so stubborn, but I've come to understand. Why are you being so stubborn now?" Azalea said earnestly.
"Mom, they're getting married, and you still say I'm stubborn?" The veins on Daryl's forehead bulged as he glared at his mother.
"Do you think Elijah is marrying Cecilia? That's impossible!" Azalea said firmly.
"Why not? You'll see soon enough." Daryl sneered.
"Why are you so stubborn?" Azalea couldn't get through to Daryl.
Daryl sneered, "Mom, for the past six months, Elijah has been going to the city where Cecilia lives every month. What do you think he's doing there? He stays for a week each time. Do you think he's seeing someone else?"
"Do you have proof? Have you seen them together?" Azalea questioned.
Daryl had no response to his mother's question.
Seeing this, Azalea said, "You could have used countless ways to find out the truth, but you didn't. I'm your mother, so I know my children best. You didn't dare to find out because you were afraid you couldn't handle the truth. That's why things have come to this."
Daryl still arrogantly shoved his hands into his pockets. "What truth can't I handle?"
At that moment, footsteps were heard outside.
"Mom, I've brought her in!" Elijah happily walked into the dining room, holding Elowen's hand.
Hearing this, Azalea and Daryl turned to look. Elijah was holding the hand of a young woman in her early twenties, her face full of youthful charm and beauty.
Seeing the young woman, Azalea immediately liked her.
Daryl, however, frowned deeply, his eyes filled with surprise.
"This is my mom, and that's my older brother. Say hello!" Elijah looked at Elowen with a doting smile.
"Hello!" Elowen greeted politely, even bowing slightly.
"Great, come here." Azalea turned to Finn and said, "Tell the kitchen to prepare a few more dishes. Oh, and bring some coffee, fruits, and some of the new cake the chef made!" Azalea, usually so composed, was suddenly flustered.
"Mom, why are you so nervous today? This isn't like you!" Elijah teased his mother.
"Elijah, how dare you make fun of your mom!" Azalea playfully slapped Elijah.
Elijah laughed.
Then, Elijah quickly invited Elowen to sit down. The servants brought coffee and placed two exquisite cakes in front of Elowen.
Azalea held Elowen's hand, looking her over several times, smiling, "Elijah kept you hidden so well. You must have been together for a while, right? Now you've caught me off guard. I didn't even have time to prepare a proper gift. Here, this bracelet was a gift from Elijah's father. Consider it a meeting gift."
With that, Azalea took off her bracelet and put it on Elowen's wrist.
"Mom, you're so generous. Dad spent over a million dollars on that bracelet at an auction," Elijah said with a smile.
