Chapter 586 Leave Everything to Him

Turning his head to see the sharp-tongued Jessica, George frowned in disgust before quickly following in the direction Susan had gone.

"George, she hasn't even divorced yet. You still have to call her sister-in-law!" Jessica shouted angrily at George's retreating back as he followed Susan.

George didn't even turn his head and soon disappeared from sight.

Jessica stomped her foot in frustration, glanced at the bustling crowd behind her, and decided to hold back to avoid losing her composure.

Susan walked out of the funeral home, not even noticing the passing traffic. Vehicles roared by, but she seemed not to hear a thing.

After another car honked at her multiple times, George pulled Susan to the side of the road.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?" George was both angry and worried seeing Susan like this.

"Maybe I don't want to live anymore," Susan choked out, tears welling up in her eyes. "But… but I can't bear to leave Hayden and Spring."

At that moment, Susan truly felt this way. How had she and Seb reached such a point?

From the look in his eyes earlier, Susan knew that it was really over between them this time, beyond any hope of reconciliation.

Her heart felt hollow, and she was overwhelmed with despair.

Susan used to think she loved Seb deeply, so much that she couldn't love another man. But she also believed that even without him, she could continue living, though life would be bleak without him.

But this time, she realized something else. Facing his indifference, her heart ached so much she could hardly breathe. When she understood it was over between them, she didn't want to live anymore.

But what about Hayden and Spring? They were too young; they couldn't be without their mother.

Susan was at a loss, unsure how to face her current situation.

Seeing Susan on the verge of an emotional breakdown, George frowned and grabbed her arm, saying, "I'll take you home!"

"I don't want to go!" Susan struggled emotionally.

George, holding back his voice, said, "If I don't take you home now, you're going to do something reckless. I won't let that happen."

With that, George forcefully led her to his car.

After fastening Susan's seatbelt, George started the engine, and the car soon merged onto the road.

On the way, George kept glancing at Susan.

Susan leaned against the seat, staring out the window, not saying a word, as if she had lost all hope of living.

George's eyes were filled with pity and concern. Finally, he couldn't help but say, "I have a rough idea of what happened, but is it any use to torment yourself like this? The outcome is inevitable. For your sake and for Hayden and Spring, pull yourself together, okay?"

Susan didn't react at all, as if she hadn't heard George.

"Susan, in my eyes, you've always been a strong woman. Nothing has ever knocked you down. I believe you'll get through this too!" George said, gripping the steering wheel tightly.

"Did you hear what I said?" After a while, with no response from Susan, George couldn't help but raise his voice.

"I'm not deaf; of course, I heard you," Susan finally said.

Hearing this, George breathed a sigh of relief.

"What are you planning to do next?" George glanced at Susan and asked.

"What can I do? I'll leave it to fate," Susan replied sadly.

Hearing this, George frowned deeply.

After a while, George said, "I can't intervene directly, but I'll find someone to talk to Seb."

Susan, however, said sorrowfully, "Thanks for your kindness, but it's useless."

"But..." George wanted to say more.

Susan interrupted him, "Don't worry about me anymore. It's better if we keep our distance. I don't want any more complications. I'm really, really tired."

George understood her feelings. Though he was also sad, he nodded. "I understand. I'll drop you off at your door and leave immediately."

"Thank you," Susan nodded and looked out the window again.

This time, George really stopped the car at the entrance of Seb's villa. After Susan got out, George drove away without causing her any further disturbance.

When Susan got home, she didn't have the energy to check on Hayden and Spring. Seeing her pale face, Kathy told her to go upstairs and rest.

Susan went upstairs, collapsed on the bed, and fell asleep. She was utterly exhausted and didn't want to think about anything, just wanted to sleep and never wake up.

Susan then fell into a deep sleep, not waking up until someone pulled off her blanket and shook her awake.

"Wake up! How long do you plan to sleep? Kathy said you've been sleeping for almost a day and a night!"

A familiar voice sounded in her ear, and Susan opened her sleepy eyes.

Adjusting to the sunlight, Susan saw that it was Isabella standing by her bed.

"What are you doing here?" Susan sat up, still feeling weak.

Seeing Susan's state, Isabella sat down and sighed. "I know everything. What are you going to do?"

Hearing this, Susan couldn't help but smile bitterly. "What can I do?"

Several people had asked her this question in the past few days. The problem was not what she planned to do but what Seb planned to do.

"Carol is dead, but she left you with such a hurtful remark before she passed. Even if Seb stays with you, he'll surely feel uncomfortable and argue with you every now and then. And it will be a shadow over your relationship," Isabella complained.

Isabella's words hit home for Susan, but she would rather endure Seb's emotional torment than leave him.

And there were the two children. Seb would never give her custody of Hayden and Spring. She didn't want to leave her children.

Without Seb and without the children, she truly felt like there was nothing left for her.

Susan then leaned against the headboard and said, "I'll leave everything to Seb. I'll respect his decision."

Susan couldn't make any decisions herself now, so she would let him handle everything.

All she could do was wait, and pray that whatever Seb decided, it wouldn't destroy her completely.
