Chapter 512 The Kiss of the Century
In a flash, Leon's face contorted, and he let out a pained yelp.
Isabella, though, just grinned at him. Right when Leon's eyes locked onto her and he was about to blow up, Isabella smirked, "Oops, my bad. Totally didn't mean to step on your foot!"
Leon growled, "You did that on purpose."
Isabella dropped the act and chuckled, "Well, that's what you get for being such a jerk."
"You..." Leon jabbed a finger at her, his face going white with rage.
Isabella shot him a look and warned, "The ceremony's about to kick off. If the best man and maid of honor start brawling, your boss is gonna be pissed. I don't care, but you still gotta work for him. Just calm down!"
Leon, always the big-picture guy, wasn't about to let a little spat mess things up. He shot Isabella a disdainful look and said, "I'm not gonna argue with someone as unreasonable as you."
Isabella didn't back down. "Hope we never cross paths again after this. What a drag."
"Totally agree," Leon snorted.
Both of them turned away, refusing to look at each other. But Isabella's hand was still gripping Leon's arm, and Leon was practically pressed against her. They didn't push each other away because they knew they had a job to do.
Up front, Seb and Susan could vaguely hear Leon and Isabella bickering behind them.
Susan glanced back, worried. "Are they fighting? Should I go check?"
Seb chuckled, "Nah, Leon's got it under control."
"But Isabella's got a short fuse. They might actually throw down," Susan said, knowing Isabella's temper.
"Relax, Leon can handle it," Seb said confidently.
"But what if..." Susan was still anxious.
Seb patted her hand. "Trust me."
Susan looked back again. She saw that even though Leon and Isabella had turned away from each other, they had both shut up. Seemed like the argument was over.
She turned to Seb and smiled. "You trust Leon that much?"
"If I choose to rely on him, I gotta trust him all the way. If I have doubts, I shouldn't use him," Seb said with conviction.
Susan whispered, "I used to try to set them up. Now it seems they're just not a match; they fight every time they meet."
Seb had a different take. "Not necessarily. Remember how we used to argue all the time when we first met? Don't think I didn't notice. If I hadn't been your boss back then, you would've fought back just like Isabella."
Susan thought back and couldn't help but smile.
"But that's different. We had a close bond first. Then I got pregnant with Hayden, and we were stuck together," Susan said, leaning against the tall Seb.
Looking down at the petite Susan in front of him, Seb said softly, "Can we stop talking about other people? This is our big moment. You gotta focus on me, alright?"
Susan grinned. "Can I think about Hayden and Spring a little while thinking about you?"
"Sure thing," Seb nodded.
"Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Anderson, it's time to enter!" The emcee's assistant rushed over to Seb and Susan.
Then, the celebratory music kicked in.
With the music playing, Susan walked down the red carpet into the banquet hall, arm in arm with Seb.
The place was decked out in style, with vibrant roses, mouth-watering food, and top-notch wine. The hall, big enough for hundreds, was lit up and packed. In front of all those people, Susan and Seb finally tied the knot. With so many well-wishes, Susan was on the verge of tears.
Seeing her eyes well up, Seb whispered, "Is that a happy crying for marrying me?"
Susan touched her eyes and teased, "This is a big deal. Be serious!"
"Got it," Seb said, trying to look serious.
Susan frowned at him. "We're getting married, okay? Can't you look a bit happier? If you look so cold, people will think you don't wanna marry me!"
"Didn't you tell me to be serious?" Seb teased back.
Susan pinched his hand. "Behave, or no cuddles tonight!"
Seb grinned and whispered in her ear, "We've cuddled a million times. Think that scares me?"
"Get lost," Susan glared at him, a bit annoyed.
Seb quickly put on a happy face. Under the emcee's guidance, they went through all the wedding steps.
"I now pronounce the wedding complete. Finally, the groom may kiss the bride!" After nearly an hour, the emcee finally announced.
Seb turned to Susan, lifted her veil, and looked into her eyes. Susan saw only herself in his gaze, focused and passionate, and she blushed instantly.
Then, Seb leaned in and kissed her deeply.
Susan thought it would be a quick peck, but it was anything but.
She wanted to push him away; it was too much in front of everyone.
But he didn't budge, kissing her like no one else was there.
The crowd started cheering, clapping, and hooting.
The emcee, caught off guard, improvised, "Ladies and gentlemen, the groom's a bit excited today. Guess he's just thrilled to finally marry the woman he loves!"
The hall erupted in laughter.
Susan's face turned red all the way to her neck. She opened her eyes and saw Seb still kissing her passionately. She couldn't break free.
