Chapter 1251 Goddaughter

After hearing Isaac's words, Azalea took a deep breath before snapping, "That awful woman! At least she had the decency not to stay at our house today. If she had, I would've made her regret it!"

Just then, Elijah came downstairs.

Hearing his mother's words, Elijah tried to calm her down, "Mom, don't call her awful. It's just not nice."

Azalea shot Elijah a glare. "You ungrateful child, always siding with outsiders instead of your own mother. And your brother, treating Cecilia like a princess, even going out late to drop her off. She has no idea how hard men work. She'll never be a good wife!"

Azalea continued to rant, while Elijah could only smile tightly and walk away, leaving Isaac to listen alone.

Daryl parked the car outside Cecilia's building and was about to open the door.

Cecilia grabbed his hand and said, "Don't come up. I'll go up by myself."

Daryl frowned, "Why?"

Cecilia smiled, "If you come up, you won't want to leave. Your mom is waiting for you to come back."

Daryl's lips curved into a smile as he touched Cecilia's cheek, "So you're scared of her."

"What can I do? She doesn't like me. If I push it, I'll just be asking for trouble," Cecilia said, pouting.

Daryl's heart softened, and he comforted her, "Don't worry, I'm here."

"It's late. You should go home and rest. I'm going up now." Cecilia opened the car door to leave.

"Leaving already?" Daryl suddenly said.

Cecilia turned to look at him, seeing his deep eyes staring at her longingly.

Understanding his thoughts, she smiled helplessly and leaned in to kiss his cheek.

As Cecilia was about to pull away, Daryl's arms wrapped around her waist, sealing her lips with his.

What followed was a passionate kiss, and Cecilia found herself enjoying it, her arms instinctively wrapping around his neck.

After the kiss, Daryl's throat moved as he looked at Cecilia in his arms, reluctant to let go, "What am I going to do? I don't want to let you go."

Cecilia smiled and gently removed his hands from her waist, "Today's goodbye is for a better reunion tomorrow. I want to be with you all the time too, but we shouldn't upset your mom. Besides, next month you won't be able to avoid me!"

Her face turned red as she spoke.

Daryl chuckled, "We aren't even married yet, and you're already playing the role."

"What role?" Cecilia asked, puzzled.

"The role of a dutiful daughter-in-law," Daryl said, pouting.

Seeing his dissatisfaction, Cecilia patted his handsome face, "Alright, it's late. I'm going up. You go home and be good. Don't wander around, and be careful on the way!"

With that, Cecilia quickly got out of the car, knowing that if she didn't, they might never stop clinging to each other.

Since they reconciled, Cecilia noticed that Daryl, usually so calm and decisive, had started to cling to her. She thought a man as composed and resolute as him wouldn't be like women, always thinking about love.

After going upstairs, Cecilia turned on the light and ran to the window, waving at Daryl standing by the car. Daryl smiled and got into the car, driving away.

One afternoon, Azalea met Skylar for coffee.

"Mrs. Fields, I bought this scarf for you in Starlight City. I hope you like it," Skylar handed Azalea an Elysian Leather scarf.

Azalea took it, looked at the pattern, and nodded, "It's my favorite color and brand. Unlike Cecilia, who buys me cheap scarves that lower my status. I gave them to the housekeeper."

Skylar's lips twitched, "Mrs. Fields, since Daryl has decided to marry her, you should get along with her. Otherwise, it might affect your relationship with Daryl."

Azalea immediately became displeased, "She affect our relationship? She's not worthy! Daryl is grateful and listens to me. He's only defying me because he's bewitched by that awful woman!"

"Mrs. Fields, as long as Daryl is happy," Skylar observed Azalea's expression.

Azalea frowned, "In our family, a daughter-in-law must be presentable and able to help Daryl in his career. That awful woman's family is at the bottom, dragging us down and making our relatives and friends laugh at us. Isaac and I are firmly against this marriage, but Daryl threatened to resign, and Elijah is useless, refusing to join Fields Corporation. We had no choice but to reluctantly agree."

"Daryl threatened to leave Fields Corporation for Cecilia? He's too foolish. For a man, what's more important than his career and family business? If Cecilia keeps brainwashing Daryl, then..." Skylar stopped herself.

Azalea frowned deeply.

Seeing that Azalea was listening, Skylar continued, "Mrs. Fields, since Daryl has made his decision, you should go along with it. But keep Cecilia in check. As long as she doesn't escape your control, everything will be fine."

Azalea nodded, "You're right. I need to show her who's boss. If she wants to stay in the Fields family, she must follow our rules, or she can get out!"

"Mrs. Fields, you're wise," Skylar's eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

Azalea held Skylar's hand, "Skylar, you're so good to me. It's a pity Daryl doesn't have the fortune to marry you."

Azalea sighed deeply.

Skylar smiled, "Mrs. Fields, I'm the one without the fortune to be your daughter-in-law. How about you take me as your goddaughter? I feel a special connection with you, but if we get too close, people might gossip."

"I was thinking the same. That's wonderful! Now I finally have a daughter!" Azalea said excitedly, holding Skylar's hand.
