Chapter 1349 The Jealous Person
"Oh my God, what happened to you?" Isabella's jaw dropped when she saw Cecilia's puffy eyes.
Cecilia glanced at Isabella and Susan, who were staring at her, and said calmly, "Daryl and I just finalized our divorce."
Though Cecilia spoke with composure, the sadness in her heart was undeniable.
Isabella and Susan exchanged a look upon hearing this.
"After everything with Skylar, I thought you two would work things out. Why did you still end up divorcing? Was it a rash decision?" Susan asked, frowning.
Cecilia let out a bitter laugh. "He still doesn't believe that Elijah and I are innocent. He even thinks Thaddeus isn't his kid. How could I possibly reconcile with someone like that?"
Susan fell silent at Cecilia's words.
Isabella, who had a fiery temper, couldn't contain her anger. "That Daryl, he's usually so sharp, but when it comes to emotions, he gets stuck in his own head! No way, Susan and I are going to find him and give him a piece of our minds!"
"It's not necessary. We're strangers now. I just feel sorry for Thaddeus. But it's okay, he doesn't need a father. He has me, his grandmother, his uncle, and you all. He won't lack love." Cecilia's smile was more painful than tears, yet it carried a hint of strength and resilience.
"Yeah, you can't wake someone who's pretending to be asleep. If he doesn't believe you, no amount of explanation will help!" Susan said.
Isabella chimed in, "Men, they're all the same! When they like you, everything's perfect. When they don't, they toss you aside and smear your name. That jerk Daryl, next time I see him, I'm going to give him a piece of my mind!"
Susan couldn't help but smile at Cecilia. "Don't listen to her. She's been stressed out lately, staying at my place with her two kids. My house is like a daycare now, it's so lively. You should bring Thaddeus over sometime; it'll be like a playground!"
Cecilia frowned and looked at Isabella. "Isabella, did you have a fight with Leon?"
Isabella looked embarrassed.
Susan slapped the table. "You know her too well. You guessed it right."
"You even left home? Leon always spoils you. Are you being too demanding?" Cecilia asked.
To Cecilia, Seb and Leon were ideal partners—the way they doted on Susan and Isabella was the envy of everyone.
"Demanding? He was entangled with another woman. How could I tolerate that?" Isabella snapped.
"Are you sure about that, Isabella?" Cecilia asked, her eyes full of doubt.
"See, you say Leon's cheating, but neither Cecilia nor I believe it. Any man might cheat, but not Leon!" Susan laughed.
"Hey, why are you always defending others? I'm your best friend!" Isabella protested.
"Because I don't want you to wrong a good person," Susan replied.
"You just want me out of your house with my kids, right?" Isabella pouted.
"Don't be silly. Stay as long as you want. We have plenty of rooms. I'm just worried you'll push Leon away for real!" Susan said, glancing at Isabella.
Isabella frowned, her eyes showing a hint of worry.
Susan seized the moment. "Don't forget, they're spending all their time together. You know what happens..."
Susan didn't finish her sentence.
Isabella couldn't hold back. She stood up and grabbed her bag.
"Hey, where are you going?" Susan asked.
"To the office. If they dare mess with me, they'll regret it!" Isabella stormed out of the café.
Watching Isabella leave in a huff, Cecilia called out, "Isabella."
Susan held Cecilia back. "Don't worry, she'll be fine."
"She said she's going to find Leon at the office," Cecilia said, still worried. The office was a place of work, and Isabella's temper was too impulsive.
"She's been ignoring Leon for days. He's tried to take her and the kids home several times. Maybe they need a heated argument to reconcile. I know Leon; he'll be patient with her," Susan smiled.
Cecilia nodded and asked, "Susan, what's the deal with Leon and that woman?"
"Leon needed a temporary secretary for work and forgot to tell Isabella. The secretary sent a message to Leon's phone, which Isabella saw. She assumed Leon was having an affair," Susan explained.
"What did the message say?" Cecilia asked, frowning.
"It was something like the weather's bad, take care, drink more water. That secretary was clearly trying to be overly friendly. Isabella, being jealous, wouldn't let it go. No matter how Leon explained, it didn't help. He even offered to fire the secretary, but Isabella took the kids and moved in with me," Susan replied.
Cecilia thought for a moment. "I don't think Leon would cheat. His love for Isabella is obvious. They've been through so much and finally have two kids. Leon wouldn't be so careless. That secretary is probably trying to cause trouble, hoping to get between them. You should tell Isabella not to fall for it!"
Susan looked at Cecilia. "Cecilia, you understand this when it comes to others, but why can't you see it in your own situation?"
Cecilia was stunned by Susan's words.
