Chapter 601 Lonely
Seb walked to the door of Hayden's bedroom and stopped, his eyes fixed on the slightly ajar door.
Seeing his silhouette through the crack, Susan quickly moved to lean against the wall by the door.
At this moment, only a slightly ajar door separated them, and it seemed they could both hear each other's breathing.
However, they couldn't meet.
They had agreed long ago never to see each other again because neither of them could control their emotions if they did.
Just then, Spring ran over, hugged Seb's leg, and looked up, saying, "Daddy, Mommy, Mommy!"
Spring couldn't yet form complete sentences but pointed at the slightly ajar door and called for "Mommy".
Hearing Spring's innocent voice, Susan covered her mouth with her hand, afraid she might cry.
Seb looked down at Spring, then looked up at the slightly ajar door, and bent down to pick Spring up.
"Spring, be good at home and listen, okay?" Seb said, looking deeply at Spring in his arms.
"Okay." Spring nodded obediently.
At this moment, Susan leaned against the wall, her eyes already blurred with tears.
She wanted so much to rush out and throw herself into his arms.
But reason still controlled her emotions. "We are already divorced," Susan told herself countless times in her heart.
Then, Seb put Spring down, patted her head, and said, "I have to go now. Be good."
Hearing this, Susan took a step forward but stood still. She yearned to steal a glance at him through the gap in the door, but the fear of being noticed rooted her to the spot.
"Goodbye, Daddy!" Hayden and Spring said in unison.
Susan heard his footsteps leaving.
She then quickly opened the door.
The living room was already empty, not even a shadow in sight.
Stunned for a moment, Susan quickly ran to the foyer and looked through the floor-to-ceiling window, only to see a figure getting into a car. The car door closed quickly, and the car drove away swiftly.
For a long time, Susan leaned against the floor-to-ceiling window, her eyes lost as she stared at the empty street outside.
It wasn't until she heard footsteps that Susan instinctively wiped the tears from her cheeks.
"Why do you do this to yourself? Mr. Anderson heard your voice as soon as he came in," Kathy said, walking up behind Susan.
"Really?" Susan didn't know what to say.
Kathy frowned and said, "Mr. Anderson definitely knew you were in Hayden's bedroom. I saw him standing at the door for a long time, just staring at it. I think Mr. Anderson still cares deeply for you. You know, he specifically told me to only clean the master bedroom upstairs, not to touch anything else. One day, I changed the bedding, and he got mad at me. Later, he told me not to touch anything in the master bedroom except for cleaning."
Hearing this, Susan frowned.
Although Kathy's words comforted her, knowing he still cared deeply for her, she didn't want Seb to be like this because she didn't want him to be sad.
Even without seeing his face, she knew the depth of his sadness mirrored her own.
Susan didn't want him to be sad, so she would rather he forget her and start a new life, even if it meant another woman entering his life.
But the thought of another woman entering his life made Susan's heart ache so much she could hardly breathe. She was jealous, insanely jealous.
The next moment, Susan didn't want to continue this topic and turned to smile, saying, "I'll go check on Hayden and Spring."
"Okay." Kathy nodded.
That day, although Susan was preoccupied, she spent the whole day with Hayden and Spring. The kids were very happy, and so was she, though there was still a faint sadness in her eyes.
Perhaps they were too tired from playing, as night fell, Hayden and Spring both fell asleep.
After kissing Hayden and Spring on the cheeks and touching their little hands, Susan quickly left the villa before Seb returned.
Walking on the street lit by the evening lights, the late spring breeze brushed her face, and Susan still felt a bit cold, so she wrapped her cardigan tighter around herself.
Susan suddenly didn't want to go home, didn't want to return to that cold, lonely rented apartment.
It wasn't because the apartment wasn't big enough or the decor wasn't luxurious enough. Her current living conditions were much better than before.
But the rented apartment was too lonely, without the children's laughter or a warm atmosphere.
It wasn't that she longed for the luxury of the villa, but because her children were there, and so was the man she loved.
But Susan knew she had to adapt to all this, to go with the flow. It was better for both her and Seb.
She walked for a long time until she passed an open-air barbecue restaurant, and the smell of grilled meat wafted over.
Smelling this, Susan's stomach churned, and she bent over, dry heaving.
After a while, Susan felt an unusual tightness in her chest, frowned, and quickly left the barbecue area.
Susan couldn't help but feel strange. She often smelled grilled meat, so why was her reaction so strong today?
At this moment, Susan felt a wave of panic.
She had experienced this reaction when she was pregnant with Hayden and Spring. Could she be pregnant again?
Thinking of this, Susan felt a surge of anxiety.
Her period hadn't come this month. Frowning and thinking carefully, she realized it was almost two weeks late.
How could she be pregnant again?
Thinking back, if she was pregnant, it must have been from their last night together.
'No, it can't be. It's definitely because I've been too busy with work and stressed out lately. That's why my period hasn't come. I can't be pregnant, absolutely not,' Susan thought to herself.
Then, Susan quickly walked to the nearest pharmacy.
She needed to buy a pregnancy test to check.
After buying the test, Susan hurried home.
Half an hour later, Susan walked out of the bathroom, expressionless, holding the pregnancy test.
The test clearly showed two red lines. She was indeed pregnant.
She was pregnant!
Susan lay on the bed dejectedly, clutching the pregnancy test in her hand.
How could she be pregnant at this time? It was as if fate was playing a cruel joke on her.
