Chapter 100 Dermot, Could It Be That You Like Me
The man across from her drank his wine, taking a long time to answer. Evelyn just watched him, a suspicion arose.
Although this suspicion seemed laughable, it seemed quite reasonable at this moment.
"Dermot, could it be that you like me?" she looked at him, smiling.
She thought Dermot would deny it, but she waited for a long time and he didn't say a word.
Admittedly, Evelyn started to panic a bit.
"Dermot, are you insane?" she couldn't help but curse.
Dermot put down his wine glass and looked at Evelyn. "Liking you means I'm insane?"
"It's not crazy that people like me, but you sure are," Evelyn said.
"Are you kidding me? I am your ex-husband, and after the divorce, you say you like your ex-wife? What else could it be if not insanity?"
Dermot sighed, his tone lingering. "Sometimes I think, if during our marriage, I could have met you once, maybe... we would still be married."
"So, are you trying to say that you fell in love with me at first sight?" Evelyn felt like she had heard a joke.
Dermot neither admitted nor denied it.
At this moment, Evelyn's emotions were complex. She regretted agreeing to chat with Dermot.
She ate her skewers and contemplated life.
However, Dermot wasn't planning to let it end like this, and he asked, "So, can you give me a chance?"
Evelyn pursed her lips, feeling the beef skewer in her hand lose its taste.
"Evelyn..."
"Don't." Evelyn interrupted him. "We're not that familiar with each other."
And you too, Dermot.
"Keith can call me that way, why can't I?" he was a bit angry, feeling that no matter how he looked at his relationship with Evelyn, it was better than with Keith.
However, Evelyn didn't think so. "Keith has no grievances with me in the past or present, but it's different with you."
"How am I different?" he asked.
"You are my ex-husband," Evelyn looked at him and said calmly, "Ex-husbands and ex-wives are destined not to get along well."
"Who determined that?" Dermot suppressed his anger.
"Isn't it always like this? Have you seen any ex-husband and ex-wife getting along well?" she had seen those dramas, and after divorce, it was always a mess.
Dermot became serious, his expression solemn. "I don't know about others, and I don't want to know."
"But you and I don't have to be like that."
Before Evelyn could refute, he added, "I don't have to call you Evelyn, I can call you Evey."
He finished speaking, goosebumps appeared on Evelyn's arms, and she looked at this man with fear.
"Dermot, are you insane?" she couldn't help but ask.
"Is this person on drugs or something?"
"I'm fine, very fine.", he said what was on his mind, and he felt much better.
Unfortunately, Evelyn didn’t agree that way.
After taking a deep breath and calming down for a few minutes, she said, "I'm not interested in you and I won't like you."
Her rejection came so quickly, giving Dermot no time to react at all.
Dermot's expression changed. He hadn't expected his first confession to fail.
"Then what kind of person do you like?" he asked, unwilling to give up.
"not someone like you," she replied, disdainfully. She found Dermot too cold and indifferent; she didn't like that kind of man.
Besides, she had always believed that fate was predetermined.
If she married Dermot, it meant they were destined to be together. In the beginning, she wanted to get along well with him.
But later, they divorced, which meant it was an ill-fated relationship.
Since that's the case, she certainly wouldn't let this ill-fated relationship continue.
