Chapter 790 We Can't Save Them

Evelyn remained silent, and David was clearly anxious. He said nervously, "Ms. Kyte, do you really want to see your father die at my hands?"

"I agree to your terms," Evelyn sighed. She really had no way to deal with these mercenaries at the moment.

However, she wasn't in a hurry. After all, she had already found where these people were. As long as she followed them, she would eventually find an opportunity to rescue Blake and Wade.

Hearing her agreement, David breathed a sigh of relief. He was afraid that Evelyn might disregard Blake and Wade's lives.

After hanging up the phone, Evelyn instructed her team to hide. She suspected that the group of mercenaries would leave soon, and they couldn't afford to let them notice anything unusual at this moment.

Things went exactly as she had predicted. About ten minutes after the call, there was movement at the nearby lumber mill. Evelyn saw David, the leader, come out, and she felt a sense of relief.

As long as they two were here, her efforts hadn't been in vain.

David and his men got into their vehicles, and Evelyn watched closely. She soon saw her father and Wade being pushed into the cars as well.

She instantly ordered her team to arrange vehicles and follow them. No matter what, she couldn't let them out of her sight.

David's group didn't take the highway, seemingly afraid of being intercepted. They drove along back roads towards the border.

Bordervale was close to the border, and the small county they were in wasn't far from it either. It would take about five to six hours to drive there, so they would likely reach the border by the afternoon.

Evelyn knew she couldn't just follow them like this, or she would end up watching them take the hostages away.

She said to Edward beside her, "Arrange for a few reinforced cars to block them ahead. Wait for my signal, and when the time comes, ram them to a stop."

"Ms. Kyte, won't that provoke them?" Edward was a bit worried.

"It won't. We're already close to the border; they won't want to waste time here." Evelyn was more concerned that David might react quickly and use Blake and Wade as hostages.

So, she couldn't give David that chance.

The cars continued driving. When they reached a fork in the road, David's lead car took one path, and just as the following cars were about to do the same, Evelyn gave the order. Then the ambush vehicles rushed out and rammed the two cars carrying Blake and Wade onto the other path.

Evelyn immediately ordered her team to speed up and catch up. As for David's side, they were now in a dilemma.

If he turned back to rescue, he would have to make a U-turn, which would waste time and risk an ambush. And they didn't knew how many people Evelyn had brought.

"Go!" David gritted his teeth and made a decision.

"Boss, what about them?" his subordinate asked, clearly unwilling to leave their comrades behind.

Those cars contained their fellows. If they left, those people would surely die.

"We can't save them." David saw clearly and then added, "Tell them to kill Blake and Wade."

"Got it." The subordinate understood that in this situation, escaping was already difficult enough. As for those who had been rammed to a stop, they could only rely on fate.

In the two cars that had been rammed to a stop, the mercenaries quickly realized they were ambushed.

Just as they were about to draw their guns, Evelyn's team rushed in.

Their target wasn't the mercenaries but Blake and Wade. Rescuing them was the priority.

"Kill those two," the mercenary who received the order shouted to the others.

Hearing this, they all drew their guns and aimed at Blake and Wade.
