Chapter 21

The next night.

The charity dinner was housed in Joywill Hotel and organized by Banquet Magazine, a magazine famous in Moris City.

As Dermot arrived, paparazzi and reporters swarmed the entrance of the hotel. Cameras turned toward him as he stepped out of his car.

"Banquet Magazine is so influential that even Dermot accepted their invitation!" someone exclaimed. It was known to all that Dermot never liked to attend such banquets.

"No doubt about it. I'm wondering if we can go in and have a look. I bet the charity banquet tonight must be very exciting," another one said regretfully.

"Who's the woman beside him? His girlfriend?" Some people noticed that Dermot had a female companion today, which was surprising.

Hearing this, everyone looked over at Cassie. Honestly, Cassie was too ordinary to be noticed at first glance.

Oblivious to their thoughts, Cassie stood beside Dermot and felt proud about people's admiring gazes toward her.

"You shouldn't have come tonight," Dermot said as he walked inside the hall. "You haven't fully recovered yet. You should rest at home."

"I'm fine. It's too boring to stay indoors every day. Besides, I feel relaxed to come with you," Cassie smiled at Dermot, but the smile didn't reach her heart.

She knew that if she hadn't shown up on this occasion, countless women in Moris City would have done their utmost to seduce Dermot. Cassie had to come and keep an eye on things, not giving those women a chance.

As soon as the two of them reached the entrance, Chad Daniels, the editor-in-chief rushed out to greet them, "Mr. Doyle, welcome to our banquet. Your presence has added brilliance to the occasion."

Though Chad sent out the invitations, he didn't expect Dermot to come.

Now the level of the dinner party had been raised several notches. As the organizer, Chad was naturally overjoyed.

"Mr. Daniels, I'm honored to be here. Banquet Magazine and the Doyle Group have always had a good working relationship. It's only right for me to attend." Dermot nodded with a smile. His words were polite, but his demeanor was distant.

"Hello, Mr. Daniels," Cassie interjected, feeling uncomfortable at being ignored.

Chad was taken aback and only then seemed to notice Cassie's presence. It wasn't his fault, but her presence wasn't strong at all.

"May I know who this is?" Chad asked.

"My sister," Dermot replied. Ever since he had promised Leonard to take care of Cassie, he had treated her as his sister and introduced her this way in public.

A flash of bitterness flashed in Cassie's eyes. She didn't wanna be Dermot's sister.

Chad nodded in partial understanding and then said, "Mr. Doyle, please come in. The banquet is about to begin."

After speaking, he led Dermot to the first row, from where Dermot would have a clear view of everything on stage when the charity auction began later.

Suddenly, there was another commotion at the door.

"It's Aidan!" one exclaimed.

"Aidan? The new upstart?" asked someone.

"It's him." The first speaker nodded and added, "In just a few years, he started from scratch and became the youngest on the Forbes rich list. Who else could it be?"

There were other young people on the list, but they all depended on their families. Even Dermot, who was number one on the list, was no exception.

"Who's his companion? A new star?" someone asked at the sight of the woman standing beside Aidan."
