Chapter 1026: But He Still Likes You
"Don't you get 'first come, first served'? Or is this how the Griffin family raised you?" Evelyn's icy stare made Lydia squirm.
Lydia thought, 'She knows the Griffin family?'
Maybe she's from another big family?
Lydia, usually arrogant, knew the Griffin family's clout in Golombia. After a moment, she softened. "Sorry, I didn't notice. If your friend wants it, she can have it."
Evelyn was surprised; she expected Lydia to stay haughty but she backed down quickly.
Evelyn turned to Ruby. "Do you still want it?"
"No, I don't." Ruby shook her head. Lydia had already tried it on, and Ruby didn't like buying the same thing as others.
Evelyn expected this; she knew Ruby well. "Alright, let her have it."
She looked at Lydia. "My friend doesn't want it anymore. It's yours."
Lydia was speechless, thinking, 'You argued so much, and now your friend doesn't even want it.'
Suppressing her irritation, she forced a smile. "I'm Lydia Griffin. Just got back from abroad and not too familiar with Golombia. Sorry if I offended you."
Evelyn was surprised again by Lydia's change in attitude.
"I'm Evelyn Kyte," Evelyn introduced herself, then added, "This is my friend Ruby Kite."
Lydia was shocked. "You're Evelyn?"
"Do you know me?" Evelyn asked, noting Lydia seemed well-informed despite just returning.
Lydia nodded. "Yes, you're the head of the Kyte family."
Lydia hadn't expected to run into someone from the Kyte family. Luckily, she apologized in time. Offending Evelyn would be a huge mistake.
Evelyn smiled but stayed silent.
Though surprised by Evelyn's identity, Lydia seemed more interested in Ruby. "You're Ruby?"
"You know me?" Ruby was surprised. It made sense for Lydia to know Evelyn, but not her.
Lydia's expression was odd, with a hint of resentment. "Yes. You're Craig's ex."
Hearing "Craig's ex," Ruby felt a mix of emotions and was speechless.
She wasn't even sure if she and Craig had a real relationship.
But now, hearing Lydia, she felt relieved.
"Let's just call him an ex," she thought.
"My dad introduced Craig to me. I didn't think much at first, but after meeting him, I fell for him. So I looked into him and found out about you. Sorry for that." Lydia apologized.
Ruby shook her head casually, "It's okay. We're already over."
"But he still likes you," Lydia said, looking at her.
Ruby was stunned. She thought Lydia would be angry or resentful.
But Lydia was calm, making her intentions hard to read.
