Chapter 1094: What Do You Want to Do Again
Evelyn let out a big sigh and said, "Man, I had dinner with Ruby last night, and it got super late, so I didn't swing by."
"And now? You at the hospital?" Joshua asked.
"Nah, got some stuff to handle today. Might drop by later," Evelyn replied. Joshua was chilling at Golombia Hospital, so she couldn't lie about being there.
She didn't spill the details, which made Joshua a bit uneasy. "No rush; handle your biz. Brandon's here to keep an eye on me, so we're good."
"Cool." Then, they hung up.
In the hospital room, Joshua's face turned dark as he looked at Brandon. "Tommy ain't dead?"
"Not sure. I popped a few shots his way when he was bailing, but dunno if I hit him," Brandon said, keeping his head down, not daring to meet Joshua's eyes.
He'd been sloppy last night, not expecting an ambush.
Joshua glared at him coldly. "So dumb!"
"Sorry, Mr. Garcia," Brandon said, knowing he screwed up and not daring to argue.
Joshua rubbed his forehead, the unease in his heart growing stronger. "Think if Tommy knows I wanna off him, he'll spill everything to Dermot?"
Brandon didn't speak, but he thought it was possible.
"Don't sweat it, Mr. Garcia. I'll take some guys tonight and finish him off." This time, Brandon wouldn't go solo.
Joshua sighed, "I'm just worried it might be too late."
Evelyn's sudden absence was weird, and he couldn't help but wonder if Dermot had already spilled the beans to her.
At the Westside villa, Evelyn followed Dermot inside. "This yours too?"
"It's the Doyle family's, used to hold some folks." On the surface, it was a villa, but it was actually a dungeon.
But now, Dermot was running the show in the Doyle family, so he knew all the deets.
Evelyn listened as they walked into the living room.
At that moment, someone was sitting in the living room. Evelyn looked at Dermot, confused, still not getting why he brought her here.
Dermot had Evelyn sit down, then looked at Tommy across from them. "Tell Evelyn who you are."
"I'm Tommy Cooper. Joshua's my boss," Tommy said straight up. He knew what Dermot wanted him to say.
After a night of thinking, Tommy had figured out a lot.
He used to think Joshua would come to save him, so he kept his mouth shut. But now, knowing that wasn't gonna happen, he decided not to wait like a fool.
Since Dermot promised that if he told the truth, he'd not only be let go but also get some cash, the offer was too good to pass up.
Evelyn frowned and looked at Dermot beside her. "What are you up to now?"
Dermot felt a tightness in his chest. "Just listen to what Tommy's gotta say."
Then, Tommy spilled how he followed Joshua to Libertonia and the first thing they did was kidnap Evelyn with the others, waiting for Joshua to come to the rescue after that.
Although Tommy wasn't one of Joshua's top guys, he knew the general situation. Especially after learning Joshua's motives from Dermot, a lot of things that hadn't made sense before now clicked.
He didn't hold back and told everything in detail.
Evelyn was completely silent. What Tommy said was too shocking for her to refute right away.
After a long time, she finally looked at Dermot in a daze. "How do I know he's not one of your guys?"
