Chapter 1018: Just Too Deeply Prejudiced

Evelyn greeted Joshua excitedly. "Joshua, with Dr. Gray treating you, you'll definitely get better."

Joshua didn't respond, surprised Dermot would go this far for his treatment. He knew Dermot wasn't being kind; he just wanted to impress Evelyn.

With a sullen face, Joshua said, "No need. I trust the doctors at Golombia Hospital. If there's a cure, they'll find it. I don't trust anyone Dermot brings."

"Joshua, don't be ungrateful!" Dermot snapped.

Evelyn tried to persuade him, "Joshua, Dr. Gray is an expert. Let him examine you."

"No need," Joshua repeated, then turned to Leon. "Thanks for coming, but I don't need it."

Leon, calm and experienced, could guess the dynamics between the three. He looked at Dermot, who had paid for his visit.

Dermot, angry, retorted, "Joshua, do you not want Dr. Gray to see you, or are you scared?"

Joshua met his gaze. "Dermot, do you think I don't see through your schemes?"

Dermot, visibly angered, shot back, "Schemes? What schemes?"

"First, you moved next door, now you're pretending to be kind by finding me a doctor. Who knows if you're trying to kill me!" Joshua sneered.

"Joshua, you're so biased against me!" Dermot fumed, clenching his fists. He wanted to lash out but held back with Evelyn there.

Joshua instructed Brandon to wheel him back. "You know if I'm biased or not. I don't trust your sudden kindness, and I won't accept treatment from your doctors."

This ended any future attempts by Dermot to find him a doctor.

Dermot was on the verge of losing control, but Evelyn stopped him. "Take Dr. Gray back. I'll try to persuade Joshua."

"Evelyn, consider if he's really injured!" Dermot doubted Joshua was faking it. If he were truly hurt, who wouldn't want to recover quickly?

"Dermot, cut it out!" Evelyn snapped. "Nobody would fake this. What you said is hurtful."

Dermot regained some composure. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to accuse him. His refusal just seems unusual."

"Even if he doesn't like me or trust the people I bring, he should trust you, right? You know Dr. Gray; do you think I could bribe him?"

A renowned doctor like Leon could be paid to save someone, but to harm someone? Impossible.

"He just has a deep prejudice against you. I'll try to convince him," Evelyn said, determined. She had to let Leon examine Joshua; what if there was a chance of recovery?

Seeing Evelyn's resolve, Dermot sighed and nodded. "Alright, I'll leave for now. If he agrees, let me know, and I'll bring the team over."

"Okay," Evelyn nodded.
