Chapter 648 I'll Think About It
Eugene smiled, his eyes sincere, "I would definitely be reluctant to give it to outsiders, but you, Evelyn, are still willing to give it to me."
Evelyn didn't expose Eugene.
The Roberts family company had acquired a piece of land in the south of the city, supposedly planning to develop it into a commercial center, which should be very promising. However, Eugene proposing a partnership at this time and wanting to share the benefits clearly indicated a problem.
"This project is significant. I need to go back and discuss it with my father." Mainly, she needed to check what issues were associated with that piece of land. Evelyn was certain there were issues. If there were no problems, the Roberts family definitely wouldn’t be seeking their cooperation.
While they were contemplating swallowing up the Roberts family company, it was uncertain if the Roberts family was also planning to cause trouble for the Kyte family. In any case, none of them were good people.
Eugene had no objections to this. They had just acquired that piece of land and had not even started construction. There were plenty of people willing to collaborate with them, and he believed that even Blake would be tempted.
"No rush, let's have dinner first." Eugene didn’t mind, which surprised Evelyn. She thought he would stop her from consulting Blake.
Was he so confident that the Kyte family wouldn't find any issues?
While they were having dinner, Evelyn pondered what the Roberts family was planning.
"Evelyn, what do you think of Lucia and Hubert's marriage?" Eugene suddenly brought up the topic, and Evelyn looked up in surprise.
Could it be that the Roberts family's goal was to cancel the marriage between the two? Was it for Lucia?
It seemed like that was a possibility.
If Eugene used this collaboration as a bargaining chip to prevent Lucia from marrying into the Diaz family, Blake might actually consider it.
After coming back to her senses, Evelyn casually replied, "It's fine, when two people are in love."
"In love?" Eugene frowned. Was that really the case?
"Yes, both my father and I saw Lucia and Hubert hugging each other. Isn't that being in love?" Evelyn chuckled, wondering if Eugene really understood Lucia at all.
Sure enough, Eugene's face darkened when he heard Evelyn's words.
Hugging each other?
Wasn't she supposed to dislike Hubert?
Eugene felt deceived.
However, in front of Evelyn, Eugene didn't show it. "If they are truly in love, that's good."
"And if they aren't? Is the Roberts family planning to stop Lucia from getting married? Offending my father at this time wouldn’t be beneficial." Evelyn looked at him coldly, wanting to know how far the Roberts family would go for Lucia.
Understanding Evelyn's implication, Eugene set down his utensils, leaned back in his chair, and said, "Actually, I don't necessarily have to choose Lucia. To me, you are both cousins, and either of you taking over the Kyte family would work for me."
Evelyn raised an eyebrow but remained silent.
"Evey, why don’t you consider my previous proposal to cooperate with the Roberts family?" If Evelyn agreed, there would be no need to waste effort on Lucia.
After all, he had always considered Lucia to be useless, and spending time on her was a waste.
Since Dora had only this one child, they had no choice before.
This time, Evelyn didn't reject as quickly as before. She seemed to be considering it, "I’ll think about it. In fact, there's nothing wrong with the Kyte family and the Roberts family cooperating. It's a win-win situation."
"You're right. Originally, our two families are relatives." Eugene nodded. Over the years, despite being relatives, they hadn't cooperated much.
The reason was mainly because of Blake, who harbored resentment for being forced to marry Dora back then. Not only did he not cooperate, but over the years, he often caused trouble for the Roberts family.
If the Kyte family hadn't developed so well, the Roberts family wouldn't have been so tolerant.
