Chapter 826 I Wonder If I Have the Honor
Evelyn felt like rolling her eyes but kept a polite smile. "Of course, you two are perfect for each other."
Geoffrey and Lisa weren't exactly good people, so being together might actually save others from trouble.
Who would end up suffering more, though? That was the real question.
Right now, it seemed like Geoffrey was on the losing end, but Evelyn knew he wasn't one to take losses lying down. He might look compliant now, but who knew what he was plotting?
"Dr. Kyte, whatever happened between you and Geoffrey is ancient history. We're colleagues now, so let's not dwell on it," Lisa said.
Evelyn felt even more exasperated, rolling her eyes internally. "You're overthinking it. There's nothing between Dr. Harris and me, and no one cares."
It was always Lisa making a big deal out of nothing.
Geoffrey looked awkward, while Lisa seemed a bit miffed. "Really? That's good to hear. I wouldn't want my boyfriend tangled up with another woman."
Evelyn smiled, thinking, 'What you treasure isn't something everyone values.'
She ended the conversation because she was busy and didn't have time to waste on them.
As she walked away, Geoffrey kept staring at her back, which made Lisa unhappy. "What? Still hung up on her? Too bad, she didn't even look at you."
"What are you talking about? There's nothing to be hung up on," Geoffrey snapped back to reality and quickly explained.
Since he had chosen to be with Lisa, he wouldn't keep messing around with Evelyn. He also knew Evelyn didn't care about him at all.
"That's better. I'm warning you, don't even think about two-timing. If I find out, I won't let you off," Lisa warned, always feeling that Geoffrey wasn't entirely sincere with her.
Geoffrey nodded and promised he wouldn't, and only then did Lisa let it go.
Evelyn had no idea what was going on between them, and she did not care. To her, Geoffrey was a nobody, not worth her time or attention.
It was another day of surgeries, and Evelyn was busy until the end of her shift when she got a call from the police station asking her to come over to verify some matters.
She walked out of the hospital and was about to hail a cab to the police station when a car stopped in front of her.
Evelyn looked at the person and was a bit surprised. "Mr. Doyle."
Otis got out of the car and approached her. "Ms. Kyte, may I have the honor of inviting you to dinner?"
Otis had dressed up especially today. Already good-looking, he now exuded a mature charm from head to toe.
The Doyle family members were all handsome, each in their own way, and Evelyn had to admit that.
"Sorry, Mr. Doyle. I have something today, so I can't have dinner with you. Maybe another day." She didn't know when that day would be.
Evelyn's first impression of Otis wasn't great, not as good as Jeffery.
Although Jeffery was arrogant and had a bad temper, Evelyn could tell he wasn't a bad person. He was just young and, being in the Doyle family, didn't know how to respect others.
But Otis was different. He was older than Dermot, exuding maturity with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses. Besides, he also seemed shrewd, making people wary of getting too close.
Otis was slightly stunned when Evelyn rejected him. It was the first time in years that he had asked a woman out for dinner, and more importantly, he had been turned down.
"Ms. Kyte, I'm sincerely inviting you to dinner. You should at least give me some dignity," Otis said with a smile, though the smile carried a hint of threat.
