Chapter 709: Interview
Rumors were circulating that Dermot and Margaret were romantically involved. Their silence on the matter was seen as implicit confirmation.
They had come to an agreement: Dermot would be with Margaret, and Margaret would utilize the Martin family to assist him in overtaking the Doyle family.
"How can I tell them about this?" Margaret shook her head. thinking that if she did, Steven Martin would scold her.
Moreover, Dermot thought it was fake, but she didn't think so.
Noticing Dermot's slight discomfort, she clarified, "If you don't feel like going, that's fine. It's just a casual meal. I previously mentioned to my father that you aspire to be the heir of the Doyle family, and he holds you in high regard. This time, he likely wishes to discuss it further with you over dinner."
Dermot didn't want to go to the Martin family because he didn't think he and Margaret were in a relationship, at most just partners.
But it had to be said, Margaret studied psychology and understood Dermot's mind very well. She knew that what he wanted most now was the Doyle family.
So, when she mentioned the Doyle family, Dermot's resistance wasn't as strong.
"Alright, let's go then," Dermot agreed.
Margaret's face instantly lit up with a smile. She knew that once the Doyle family was mentioned, Dermot would definitely agree.
So what if it was fake now? She would make their relationship real.
She aided Dermot in his bid to become the Doyle family heir, even convincing Steven to back him. However, her intention was not to allow the accomplished Dermot to pursue other romantic interests once successful. She aimed to maintain a tight hold on Dermot, ensuring no one else had a chance.
Golombia Hospital.
Evelyn came out of the director's office after an interview.
With her extensive clinical background, numerous published articles, and a renowned mentor, her interview proceeded seamlessly.
She was confident that the hospital would extend an offer in the coming days. Once back in the operating room, she could resume her passion for surgery.
"Evelyn?"
A male voice came from the front. Evelyn looked up in surprise, "Geoffrey."
They had crossed paths previously at the anniversary celebration of Moris City Medical School. Initially, Geoffrey had ridiculed her for working at Moris Hospital. However, his attitude changed once he discovered who her mentor was, and the mockery ceased.
"What are you doing here?" Geoffrey was surprised. He had heard that Lucia had left Moris Hospital but didn't know Evelyn was at Golombia.
As for Evelyn being Ms. Kyte of the Kyte family, not many people knew. After all, if one didn't specifically follow high society, it was normal to be unaware at first.
For doctors like them, who often work late into the night and write articles during rare breaks, they truly lacked the energy to keep up with external news.
Evelyn smiled casually, "I left Moris Hospital and plan to work at Golombia Hospital."
There was nothing to hide. Geoffrey would find out after she joined anyway.
Luckily, they weren't in the same specialty. Evelyn really didn't want to become colleagues with Geoffrey.
"Really?" Geoffrey's eyes flashed with surprise and a hint of jealousy.
He was aware that with Evelyn's background and experience, gaining admission to Golombia Hospital would be simple. Unlike him, she wouldn't have to undergo multiple assessments, which left him feeling somewhat unsettled.
Evelyn nodded, noticing a hint of resentment in his eyes, feeling puzzled. She hadn't offended him, had she?
"You're so capable, you must have passed the interview, right?" Geoffrey asked tentatively.
"Not sure yet; perhaps I'll have an answer in a few days." While Evelyn believed there wouldn't be any problems, she preferred not to discuss uncertain matters.
