Chapter 245 Don't Burden Yourself Too Much

"What do you think?" Dermot raised an eyebrow, feeling both amused and exasperated.

If she didn't have a portion, why would he be busy here for so long?

Isn't it because he was worried that she would eat anything random?

"Is there anything I can help with? Although I can't cook, I'm excellent at washing vegetables."

"No need, just help me bring the dishes to the table. It will be ready here soon," the man replied, not expecting Evelyn to help with the cooking.

Evelyn nodded. "Alright."

"Be careful not to burn yourself," Dermot cautioned, feeling regretful for having her carry the dishes.

"Mr. Doyle, I'm not a child. I'm not that clumsy," Evelyn retorted, giving him a glance, and she brought the dishes to the table without any of the situations Dermot was worried about.

She didn't know where Dermot got the idea that she was so clumsy, that he needed to specifically remind her even for carrying dishes. Did she look that foolish?

Dermot didn't care about her retort and said, "I'm just worried about you. Can't you tell?"

"Your worry seems a bit exaggerated," Evelyn said.

During their conversation, Dermot had finished stir-frying the last dish and brought it out. "Let's eat."

Looking at the three dishes and a soup on the table, Evelyn felt a sense of satisfaction in her heart.

She gave Dermot a thumbs up. "Impressive, it looks and tastes great. Mr. Doyle can do anything."

"Do you like it?" Dermot asked, looking at her and smiling. "I can cook for you every day if you like."

"Well, there's no need for that," Evelyn said. Having Dermot cook for her every day would be wasteful, and she was afraid that Grandpa Doyle would be upset.

They ate their meal in silence, and the living room became quiet, only the sound of the two eating could be heard.

Dermot spoke up, "Don't give yourself so much work in the future. It's not worth risking your health."

"You're even more exaggerated than me." Before she divorced Dermot, although he never came to see her, she could always hear Grandpa Doyle complaining that Dermot worked every day and never visited him.

If they were comparing who had worn down their bodies more, Evelyn felt that Dermot's body would be in worse condition than hers.

"Don't you feel uncomfortable if you don't retaliate against me?" Did she understand that he was concerned about her?

Evelyn pursed her lips and decided not to speak anymore.

Evelyn got up to clean the dishes, while Dermot leaned against the kitchen doorway. "I'll take care of cooking, and you can wash the dishes. What do you think?"

Dermot found the scene to be exceptionally warm just by imagining it.

However, Evelyn shattered his fantasy. "Sorry, but I don't like washing dishes," she said, embarrassed.

Dermot's face turned dark, and he asked her, "Then, who cooked and washed dishes when you were in Tara Village?"

"My grandfather cooked, and Aidan was in charge of..." She stopped before mentioning Aidan.
Took it back and fell silent.

Dermot noticed her change in mood and walked up to her. "You don't have to burden yourself too much, you're excellent, and it's normal for someone to like you."

"But he's different," Evelyn said.

"Maybe he seems different to you, but to me, Aidan and any other man are the same," he looked at Evelyn and continued, "Affairs of the heart have always been like this, not something he can control."

he said this to comfort Evelyn, hoping she would be happy and stop thinking so much.

As for Aidan...

he still hated him and didn't want him to appear in front of Evelyn.

the prerequisite was that Evelyn could be happy.
