"What rubbish are you talking about? Hubert, I'm cautioning you, there was never anything between us. If you continue with such misleading statements, don't expect me to be polite," Lucia asserted, pushing him aside and eyeing him warily.
‘’What did he mean by "it's not like I haven't touched you before"? If someone else heard that, they might think something had happened between her and Hubert.
However, nothing had transpired between them, and Lucia did not wish to be falsely accused. Hubert chuckled, showing no signs of anger. "Is it because nothing occurred between us that you disregard my feelings so effortlessly?"
"Lucia, you treated me like a fool before, and now you think you can just abandon me? Do you think I'm that easy to bully?"
While Hubert had hidden motives in getting close to Lucia, it was undeniable that she had left him, which he found hard to accept.
Upon hearing Hubert's words, Lucia felt a twinge of guilt and responded, "I didn't intend to toy with your feelings. I did care for you in the past, but it wasn't until I met Wade that I truly understood love. You can't fault me for that."
"Are you still taking me for a fool?" Hubert looked at Lucia, thinking that compared to Evelyn, she was far inferior.
"I'm not."
"If the Allen family wasn't more influential than the Diaz family, would you still choose to marry Wade? Don't use love as an excuse; you're just after his wealth," Hubert bluntly stated, seeing through Lucia's motives. Challenged by Hubert, Lucia opted not to engage further, retorting, "Aren't you the same? If I weren't from the Kyte family, would you still want to marry me?"
"That's true." Hubert didn't deny it. If Lucia weren't from the Kyte family, he wouldn't want to marry her.
"So, we're the same. Don't act like you're more noble than I am." Lucia braced herself, not afraid of Hubert since she was already engaged to Wade.
However, the next second, Hubert grabbed her and pulled her close: "But after all I've done for you, you want to run into someone else's arms? Isn't that a bit heartless?"
"What do you want?" Lucia started to panic.
"What do you think?" Hubert sneered and reached to take off Lucia's clothes. Lucia was genuinely scared now.
Quickly changing her tune, Lucia pleaded, "Hubert, I was mistaken. I'm sorry. Can you please release me?"
Despite being committed to Wade, she feared the repercussions if anything transpired with Hubert and the Allen family discovered.
Witnessing Lucia's desperation, Hubert chuckled gleefully, "Now you're afraid? Why didn't fear strike you when you were making a mockery of me?"
The more Hubert thought about it, the more he felt he had been wronged. If he didn't do something to Lucia, he would feel he had let himself down.
"Hubert, please don't..." Lucia began to speak, but Hubert interrupted angrily, "Shut up! Even if I make a move on you right now, you wouldn't dare utter a word!" He was furious, acting as if he was the victim, while Lucia bit her lip, trembling.
Lucia really hadn't expected Hubert to trouble her today. She didn't dare scream, and in this situation, anyone who saw them wouldn't believe they were innocent.
