Chapter 857 Are You Still in Your Right Mind?

Evelyn was pretty upset, and when Ruby asked her what was wrong, she decided to spill everything, hoping Ruby could help her figure out what Dermot was thinking.

Ruby listened, and her jaw practically hit the floor.

"Evelyn, shouldn't you be figuring out what you are thinking right now?" Ruby asked in confusion. Didn't Evelyn see she was acting strangely, too?

Evelyn was taken aback, snapping out of her thoughts a bit.

"Dermot kissed you out of nowhere, and instead of being mad, you want to analyze his mindset? Evelyn, are you serious?" Ruby was at a loss for words.

After a few minutes, Evelyn finally said, "I didn't react at the time."

"And now? You still haven't reacted, right?" Ruby pushed, thinking Evelyn wasn't just unresponsive but maybe even okay with it.

What did that mean?

It meant Evelyn still had feelings for Dermot.

Evelyn stayed quiet, realizing Ruby had a point.

Ruby sighed, "No wonder they say first love is the hardest to forget. Dermot was your first love, so, normally, you can't get over him, especially since he's still pursuing you."

Evelyn kept silent.

"I just wonder if you were his first love?" Ruby suddenly asked.

Evelyn, maybe her brain was on pause, replied, "I think so. I haven't heard of him having an ex."

"Really? Didn't you two fight over Ava before? You even thought Dermot was using you as a stand-in." Ruby couldn't believe Evelyn had forgotten.

With Ruby's reminder, Evelyn remembered.

Ava, the girl Dermot supposedly liked once.

Evelyn didn't say anything, and Ruby got a bit worried. "Look, he likes you now. The past is the past, and Dermot isn't using you as a stand-in."

Dermot explained it to her later, and Evelyn knew a bit about it. He and Ava never ended up together; it was kind of like her and Joshua.

Both had crushes before but never got together.

The only difference might be that when Evelyn liked Joshua, she was a kid and didn't really get what love was. But Dermot was different.

Evelyn didn't know the exact difference, but she felt there had to be one.

"Evelyn, the real question is, do you like him or not?" Ruby asked seriously. She thought figuring that out was the most important thing.

It was a question Evelyn had been asking herself.

"I don't know," Evelyn said.

Ruby thought, 'How could you not know? Isn't it obvious you like him?'

If she didn't like him, she would've pushed Dermot away when he kissed her.

But it wasn't as clear-cut as Ruby thought. Evelyn needed to figure it out on her own.

"If you don't know, then think it through. Don't see him until you've sorted it out. Give yourself some space to think clearly." Ruby felt that in Evelyn's current state, she'd get confused the moment she saw Dermot.

Evelyn thought Ruby made sense and agreed, "Okay, I'll think it through."

Ruby said, "Alright, get some sleep. It's late."

Evelyn replied, "Okay, goodnight."
