Chapter 1135: Bullshit

Dinner was a feast, and Dermot even popped open a bottle of red. Evelyn couldn't help but wonder what the occasion was.

"Hey, Evelyn, have a drink," Dermot said, pouring her a glass with a grin.

That grin made Evelyn a bit uneasy. She eyed him suspiciously. "You're not trying to get me wasted, are you?"

Dermot just stayed quiet.

"I just feel like we haven't really celebrated since we got back together," he finally said, looking genuinely confused by her reaction. Was he really that kind of guy?

Evelyn let out a nervous laugh to break the ice. "Just kidding, I know you're not like that."

Dermot didn't seem bothered. They clinked glasses and downed their drinks.

Evelyn was more into the food, though. Dermot could really cook. The wine? Meh.

She glanced at Dermot, who seemed to be drinking a lot.

"Evelyn, you know, I'm really happy we're back together," Dermot said, a bit tipsy, his eyes full of affection.

Evelyn felt a bit overwhelmed by his intense gaze. "Really?"

"You don't get it. I was scared out of my mind of losing you, scared you wouldn't give me another chance, scared I'd miss out on you forever." The thought of Evelyn with someone else was unbearable to him. Dermot always believed he could make her happy for a lifetime.

Dermot was probably really drunk. Normally, he wouldn't get this mushy, even if he did drop a few sweet lines.

But Evelyn was touched.

After all the ups and downs, choosing to be with Dermot again felt like fate to Evelyn.

When Dermot was about to drink more, she quickly stepped in to stop him. "Don't drink anymore; you're drunk."

"Even if I'm drunk, I'm really happy," Dermot said, leaning against Evelyn with a rare sense of contentment.

Evelyn didn't interrupt him, letting him ramble on.

In the private room of the bar, Evelyn couldn't figure out why Craig had picked this place. Was it because it was his turf? Was he planning to start something?

She glanced at Craig and Aidan in the room, and at Phoebe behind the screen.

Evelyn didn't think Phoebe should be here. Aidan could be really harsh, and Phoebe would definitely get upset.

But Craig insisted on bringing her, saying she needed to face reality, which left Evelyn feeling a bit helpless.

"Alright, why don't you both state your demands first," Evelyn said. Staying silent wasn't going to solve anything. Today, she and Dermot would play judge.

Craig rolled his eyes at her and thought, 'Demands? Do you think this is a court?'

But after Dermot gave him a stern look, Craig reluctantly spoke, "It's simple. He slept with my sister and got her pregnant. He needs to take responsibility!"

"Aidan, what's your take?" Evelyn asked Aidan.

Aidan was cooperative, as he still respected Evelyn. "Phoebe is an adult. When she schemed against me, she should have known the consequences. So it's not about me taking responsibility for her; it's about her taking responsibility for herself."

"Bullshit!" Craig said, annoyed.

Evelyn cut in, "So, you two can't come to an agreement. No matter how many times you talk, it's always the same result."

Craig shrugged, and Aidan was at a loss for words.
