Chapter 522 Can't Let Evelyn Win

Blake managed a wry smile. He had been puzzled by Evelyn's sudden change in attitude toward him. Now, he knew there was a reason behind it.

But he wasn't about to feel bad about it. After all, looking out for his daughter was his responsibility.

He should feel happy. At least Evelyn was willing to reach out for his help. If she hadn't, it would have meant she was truly unwilling to acknowledge him as her father.

"Alright, I'll go with you to Moris City. It's where you grew up, after all. I should visit," Blake said. He already regretted missing out on so much of Evelyn's life. The chance to see her childhood home felt like a good opportunity.

Hearing his agreement, Evelyn smiled.

With Blake accompanying her, even Craig's significant influence seemed unlikely to stop her from taking Ruby away.

Just thinking of successfully retrieving Ruby put her in a great mood.

Before long, their car pulled up at the entrance to the gala. Both father and daughter emerged to a flurry of camera flashing lights.

The reporters were eager to swarm Evelyn with questions. They’d been tipped off about the presence of the Kyte family's long-lost eldest daughter.

Unfortunately for them, tonight was a gala, not a press conference, and they wouldn't get their chance to get any scoop.

Evelyn strolled gracefully at Blake's side, her radiant smile unwavering. Even under the relentless scrutiny of the media's gaze, she maintained an impeccable composure.

Not far behind them, Lucia and her mother arrived, slightly tardy. Upon catching sight of Evelyn, both of them simmered with resentment.

Dora couldn't hold back her discontent any longer. "Lucia, you should have stayed with Evelyn. Then you could be beside your father right now, instead of letting her steal all the attention."

"Mom, I've already explained everything to you. She had the support of that man, and I couldn't have faced them alone. Should I have just stood there and taken a beating?" Lucia seethed with frustration.

If it weren't for Evelyn, she would be the one standing next to Blake right now.

Dora sighed with clear frustration, "That man's just from a minor family in Moris City. He thinks he can swagger around here in Columbia just like he does back home?"

"Don't worry," she continued, "I've already dispatched someone to teach him a lesson. He'll soon realize that the Kyte family is not to be trifled with."

Lucia found some comfort in her mother's words. "Thank you, Mom. Just make sure they don't go too far. I want to see him on his knees, begging for mercy in front of me."

Otherwise, she could never swallow this humiliation.

"Let's make our way to the venue. Once you're inside, avoid any confrontations with Evelyn. With everyone's eyes on us tonight, exhibit the poise of a Kyte family lady. Don't let her get the better of you," Dora instructed.

Even though Evelyn was currently recognized as the young lady of the family, Dora did not view it that way. In her heart, there was only one true young lady of the Kyte family—her daughter.

As for the others, they were nothing but trash to her, and she'd have her revenge in due time.

"I understand," Lucia replied, masking the resentment on her face as she followed her mother into the heart of the gathering.

Lucia was no stranger to such events and managed to behave appropriately throughout, ensuring she didn't embarrass the Kyte family.

Tonight, many eyes were on them. The guests were genuinely intrigued. "Could Evelyn truly be Blake and Dora's long-lost eldest daughter? After all, there had never been any mention of the couple having a missing child."

The whole of Columbia was well-acquainted with Blake's past escapades, and rather than believing Evelyn was the legitimate child, many felt she was merely a remnant of Blake's old affairs.
