Chapter 1206 Cassie's Identity

Words were right there on Bella's tongue, but she swallowed 'em back.

Maybe it was smarter to let her feelings chill out, let the dust settle, before bringing it up with Evelyn.

Blake took Bella back to the room. Evelyn glanced at the mess in the living room, rubbed her temples, and told someone to clean it up.

She plopped down on the sofa and suddenly remembered that since the whole Kyte Manor fiasco, Dermot hadn't shown up.

That was weird. Normally, Dermot would’ve been there in a flash, probably even before her.

Feeling a bit worried, she pulled out her phone and called Dermot.

The call connected quick, and Dermot's voice came through. "Evelyn, everything cool at Kyte Manor?"

"Yeah, everything's sorted, but Nathaniel slipped away," Evelyn replied, her confusion growing. Dermot clearly knew about the Kyte Manor mess, so why hadn't he come?

Like he read her mind, Dermot explained, "Something came up at Doyle Group, so I couldn't make it, but I did send someone over."

"Okay, got it. You handle your stuff," Evelyn didn't push further. She trusted Dermot wouldn't lie to her.

Plus, Dermot knew that even if he didn't show, nothing too crazy would go down at Kyte Manor, so it made sense he got held up with Doyle Group business.

After hanging up, Evelyn took a quick nap and then told the Kyte family to start hunting for Nathaniel. She wouldn't chill until he was locked up.

At Doyle Group, Dermot hung up the phone and looked at Cassie standing in front of him.

"Should I call you Ms. Ackers or Ms. Bush?" Dermot smirked, eyeing Cassie in her business getup, thinking how wild life could be.

He never would've guessed that the Cassie he once knew would now be part of the Bush family.

Cassie's face looked a bit troubled, but she tried to explain, "Dermot, the Bush family did send you an invite before. That event was to formally bring Leonard and me back into the family, but you didn't show."

Dermot remembered he had planned to go with Evelyn, but that night Evelyn got a call about Blake going missing. She left for Seabrook City the next morning, and he lost interest in the event. After wrapping up his work, he went to Seabrook City to find Evelyn, totally forgetting about the Bush family’s event.

"Dermot, I never thought I'd find my real parents one day, and that they'd be from one of the top ten families in Golombia, the Bush family," Cassie admitted. When she found out about her true identity, she was over the moon.

She had always felt less-than because of her poor background, thinking that no matter how close she got to Dermot, they weren't a good match.

But now things were different.

She was part of a prestigious family too, not much different from Evelyn, which gave her the guts to show up in front of Dermot.

Sadly, she still couldn't figure out what made her different from Evelyn.

"I'm not really hung up on your identity, but I do have a question for you," Dermot chuckled and continued, "To be precise, I wanna ask about Leonard."

He leaned forward, a curious smile playing on his lips. "Now he should be called Leonard Bush, right? Didn't he die saving me back then? So who is this Leonard now?"
