Chapter 1270: Other Thoughts

At the dinner table, the three of them were munching away, and the vibe was pretty chill.

Henry heard the two were heading to Tara Village tomorrow and was like, "I wanna go too," but Dermot wasn't really feeling it.

"Grandpa, you better sit this one out, it's a long haul." Mainly 'cause it was a few hours' drive, and Dermot was kinda worried about Henry's health.

Henry got where Dermot was coming from, but this time he was dead set. "If I don't go now, I might never get the chance again."

Evelyn's grandpa had been his buddy for ages. He was the one who spilled the beans about Evelyn's identity, which led to Evelyn and Dermot tying the knot.

When Evelyn's grandpa kicked the bucket, Henry couldn't make it to the funeral. Now that he was getting up there in years, if he didn't go this time, he'd feel too guilty to face Evelyn's grandpa in the afterlife.

"Grandpa," Dermot frowned.

This time, Evelyn backed Henry up. "Let Henry go. The fresh air in Tara Village might do him some good."

"Exactly, Evelyn's always got my back," Henry said, giving Evelyn a nod and shooting Dermot a look.

Dermot was speechless. He thought, 'Who's your real grandson here? Do you have to be so biased?'

"You two have already decided, what else can I say?" Dermot shrugged, feeling kinda helpless. Sure, the long drive wasn't great for Henry's health, but making him happy was important too.

The three of them chatted and laughed, finishing their meal in no time.

Henry wasn't in the best shape anymore, so after the meal, Bruce helped him back to his room for a nap.

Evelyn and Dermot, on the other hand, were full of energy and decided to take a stroll around Moris City.

Just then, Evelyn got a call from John, which caught her off guard. "Hey, John."

"Evelyn, you're back in Moris City?" John's voice came through the line. He'd seen Evelyn's post and called her as soon as he knew she was back.

Evelyn confirmed and then asked, "Been stressed with your studies lately? The college entrance exams are coming up soon, you feeling confident?"

"Don't worry, I've got this," John said.

Evelyn was stoked. She'd only helped John on a whim back then, but knowing her kindness might change his life filled her with a sense of accomplishment.

"Evelyn, can I treat you to dinner tonight? I haven't seen you in ages," John hesitated for a bit before finally asking.

He was super nervous, scared Evelyn might say no.

But Evelyn didn't even think twice and said, "Sure, I'll treat you."

They agreed on a place and time for dinner before hanging up.

Turning around, Evelyn saw Dermot giving her a not-so-happy look. "Was that John, the kid you sponsored, calling you?"

"Yeah, he wants to treat me to dinner. John's really grown up; he's such a good kid," Evelyn said with a smile, feeling pretty happy.

Dermot, though, wasn't as thrilled. "Why does he wanna treat you to dinner? He better not have any other intentions."

"Dermot! What are you talking about?" Evelyn glared at him, thinking his words were kinda weird.

In her mind, John was just a kid; what other intentions could he have?

"I'm coming with you tonight," Dermot insisted. No way was he letting Evelyn and John be alone together.

Logically, since he and Evelyn were about to get hitched, he should feel secure.

But Dermot was on edge; the closer they got to the wedding, the more nervous he became, scared something might go wrong before the big day.
