Chapter 974: Listen to Me Once
Evelyn woke up early to the sound of kids laughing outside. Groggily, she checked her phone—it wasn't even seven yet. Why were they up so early?
Before she could think more, the doorbell rang. She dragged herself out of bed and opened the door to find Dermot standing there. Annoyed, she asked, "Mr. Doyle, what time is it?"
Dermot usually didn't show up this early. Was something wrong?
"Get dressed and come downstairs," he said, noticing her sleepy look. She had no clue what was going on.
"No, I want to sleep more," she protested, but Dermot grabbed her wrist. "Evelyn, just this once, trust me."
His serious expression made her curious and a bit worried. She grabbed a coat and was ready to go, but Dermot insisted, "That's too light. Wear something warmer."
Reluctantly, she put on a down jacket. "How about this?"
"Perfect, let's go," he nodded, leading her to the elevator.
Evelyn was still confused. Dermot didn't seem alarmed, so why wake her up so early?
"Dermot, what's going on?" she finally asked.
He just smiled. "You'll see soon."
She gave him a helpless look. What was the big mystery?
When they reached the first floor, Dermot took her hand and led her outside. A cold wind blew, lifting her hair, and she saw a blanket of white snow.
It was snowing.
Kids were playing in the snow, and flakes were still falling, creating a magical scene. Evelyn, who rarely saw snow in Moris City, was stunned.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Dermot asked, smiling. He was also from Moris City and was thrilled to see the first snow with her.
Evelyn nodded, stepping into the snow. "The snow came early this year."
"Stay right there," Dermot said suddenly, pointing his phone at her. After taking several photos, he seemed pleased.
He handed her the phone. "Looks great," he said, leaving it unclear if he meant the snow or her.
The convenience store owner, who was also up early, saw them and smiled. "Are you and your boyfriend up early to see the snow?"
Evelyn was about to correct her, but Dermot spoke first, "Could you take a picture of us?"
"Sure," the store owner said, taking the phone and snapping several photos of them.
