Chapter 786 Are You Threatening Me?
Wade was about to continue exchanging pleasantries with Evelyn, but David, sitting across from him, had already pointed a gun at him, making it clear not to waste time.
Upon seeing this, Wade had no choice but to say, "They said they need one hundred million dollars each for Mr. Kyte and me before they let us go."
"Tell him that's fine, but it has to be a simultaneous exchange of money and people," Evelyn replied.
The phone was on speaker so David could hear what Evelyn said. He directly responded, "Ms. Kyte, transfer the money to the account I'll send you later. You have no other choice."
Hearing this, Evelyn bit her lip hard, trying to stay composed. She replied, "Okay."
"But I need to say a few words to my father first. I must confirm his safety." Blake had been shot, and she wouldn't be at ease without confirming his safety.
David didn't refuse. Considering the two hundred million dollars, he naturally wouldn't reject such a small request.
Wade handed the phone to Blake, who took it and said, "Evelyn, I'm fine."
"Dad, don't worry. I will definitely get you out of there," Evelyn said. Before Blake could respond, she asked, "Are you okay over there?"
"Pretty good, except the smell of wood in the air is making me uncomfortable. You know, I have rhinitis; it's very uncomfortable," Blake replied.
Evelyn understood and continued, "Hang in there. I'm already contacting people to gather the money."
"Okay, I believe in you. If something really happens to me, don't be too sad. As long as you're okay, I'll be at peace." At this point, Blake had little hope left.
He knew very well that even if these mercenaries got the money, they might not let him and Wade go.
He didn't mind for himself, but he felt sorry for Wade.
Thinking of this, he felt that he must find a way to get Wade out of there. Wade was still so young; he couldn't die here.
Evelyn felt uneasy about Blake's words; she comforted, "You will be fine."
As she spoke, she glanced at Edward beside her, using her eyes to ask if he had located the phone's position.
Edward shook his head, indicating that he needed more time.
Evelyn had no choice but to continue stalling.
However, David wasn't a fool. "Hang up the phone and let her prepare the money. I want to see the money in the account within an hour, or she can prepare to collect your corpses."
Blake held the phone and repeated David's words to Evelyn.
"Give him the phone. Tell him I have something to say to him." She couldn't hang up the phone so quickly; she had to buy more time.
However, she couldn't let her father fall into danger either, so she decided to chat with David for a bit.
When Blake handed the phone to David, David was obviously a bit surprised. He reached out and took the phone, then said, "Ms. Kyte, we don't seem to know each other that well. What do you want to say to me?"
"David, right? Actually, there's nothing much to say. I just wanted to ask, have you thought about how you're going to leave after causing such a big commotion in Libertonia?" Evelyn called out his name. After the last incident, she had investigated all the information about this group of mercenaries and naturally knew his name.
David frowned with a hint of displeasure. "Are you threatening me?"
"It's not a threat, just a friendly reminder," Evelyn said coldly. "If you don't harm my father and Wade, I can help you."
David was silent.
"Otherwise, even if you get the money, you won't be able to leave. What's the point of that?" Evelyn continued.
