Chapter 899 Do You Think There's Something Wrong with Her?
Lily noticed Evelyn staring at her with a somewhat strange look, which made her feel a bit uneasy and puzzled.. She asked, "Evelyn, what's up?"
She thought, 'Did Evelyn find out something? It shouldn't be. We just met today.'
Evelyn snapped out of it and shook her head. "Sorry, I was distracted."
Lily looked away, still feeling uneasy.
Neither of them spoke; they were just waiting in the living room for the folks upstairs to finish their chat.
Luckily, they didn't wait long. The three came down quickly, and Niall headed straight for Lily. It was clear that he really liked Lily.
Evelyn felt happy but also worried for Niall. She hoped Lily was genuine, and they could be happy, but she feared it might be an act. If so, Niall, who was straightforward and simple in her eyes, wouldn't see it coming.
Evelyn's worry showed when the gathering ended.
When they were leaving, both Dermot and Joshua offered to take Evelyn home, but Aidan ended up driving her.
In the car, Aidan said, "Now I get why you didn't want Joshua at dinner. He and Dermot always argue."
Even Aidan was annoyed by their bickering, let alone Evelyn.
Evelyn just gave a simple response, clearly distracted, which was why she chose Aidan to drive her.
Aidan glanced at her. "What's wrong? You've been preoccupied."
"Aidan, how much do you know about Lily?" Evelyn asked, wanting to discuss Lily.
Aidan thought for a moment. "Not much. This is my first time meeting her. I only heard Niall mention her on the phone."
"Why didn't Niall tell me?" Evelyn was upset she knew nothing about Niall's girlfriend.
"Niall wanted to surprise you," Aidan chuckled. He hadn't meant to keep it from her.
Evelyn felt a bit helpless. What she thought was a surprise might turn into a shock.
"Do you think there's something off about Lily?" Aidan noticed Evelyn's change in attitude.
Evelyn shook her head. "Not exactly. I just feel Lily might not be as innocent as she seems."
"What do you mean?" Aidan pressed, concerned for Niall.
Evelyn then told Aidan what she overheard Lily saying on the phone.
After listening, Aidan felt the same way. "I'll look into it. You stay out of it."
"Why?" Evelyn didn't get it.
Aidan replied, "I'm the oldest, so it's my job to check things out. You don't need to worry."
Aidan was concerned that if something came up, it might cause a rift between Evelyn and Niall.
Evelyn understood and said, "Aidan, Niall isn't unreasonable."
"People in love aren't rational," Aidan sighed. Not just Niall, even Evelyn was like that.
Evelyn wanted to say Niall wasn't like that, but remembering how he acted with Lily, she stayed quiet.
