Chapter 1348 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (23)
After a long pause, Aidan finally said, "This ain't the same thing." He knew it was tough for Phoebe to bring Theodore into the world, and he knew she was still recovering, but that didn't mean he'd stick around just because of that. Matters of the heart were never that simple.
Niall asked, "Got someone you're into now?"
Aidan shook his head.
Niall slapped his thigh and said, "Well, if you ain't got anyone, why not give it a shot? What if it works out? Wouldn't that be the best of both worlds?"
"Aidan, even for Theodore's sake, you should give Phoebe a chance. You really wanna find a stepmom for Theodore?" Niall figured since Aidan didn't have anyone he liked, there was no harm in trying with Phoebe. It'd be great if he ended up liking her.
To be honest, Aidan felt a bit unsure after hearing this. It did make some sense. It reminded him of a dream he had a few days ago. He said, "Let's talk about it later. I'm not in the mood to think about this right now."
Hearing this, Niall's eyes lit up, thinking Phoebe still had a shot.
Evelyn had just heard from Phoebe about what went down and why Aidan and Phoebe were on the outs.
She looked at Phoebe with a complicated expression and couldn't help but say, "While I hope you can be more proactive, this ain't the way to do it. No one can accept this."
Phoebe was being too forward. Even if Aidan had feelings for her, her approach would scare him off.
"Huh? Then what should I do?" Phoebe had been feeling down these past few days because she thought she had been proactive enough, but it hadn't worked. From Evelyn's words, she realized she was being too forward.
"Didn't you say Aidan often skips dinner? Start by bringing him dinner every day," Evelyn suggested after thinking for a moment.
Before Phoebe could respond, she continued, "Aidan's the type who gradually warms up to people. You need to slowly become a part of his life, make him get used to you being around, and eventually become someone he can't live without. You need to learn to care for him, not like how you did before. That won't work." It might even make Aidan dislike Phoebe again, which was not what she wanted to see.
Hearing this, Phoebe seemed to realize her mistake. Blushing and embarrassed, she said, "I didn't think that far. I just wanted to be with him as soon as possible." She thought that was the quickest way.
Evelyn said, "I get it, you wanna be with Aidan, but there are many ways to do that. At the very least, you need to make him like you first, and then you can be together. That's the best way to develop the relationship."
Phoebe nodded repeatedly. "You're right. I get it now."
"Good to hear." Evelyn nodded in satisfaction. She truly hoped Aidan and Phoebe could be together, so she could be at ease.
As Evelyn and Phoebe were talking, they suddenly heard an argument by the pool downstairs. Evelyn got up and walked to the window to look down.
It seemed that Aidan was having a conflict with Sienna Lowe. Even from a distance, she could tell he was really pissed. She rarely saw him like this, and her gut told her something was wrong.
"Let's go downstairs and check it out," Evelyn said, turning to head downstairs.
Phoebe also heard the argument and felt worried, so she followed Evelyn downstairs and walked towards the pool.
