Chapter 379 Are You Truly Losing Your Mind

Evelyn thought it was very possible.

She comforted herself, saying that this kind of thing was normal, she had been in relationships before, who hadn't had a past?

Despite consoling herself like this, her heart felt like it was being squeezed by something, that girl was too much like her.

Was she really just a substitute?

Once this thought emerged, Evelyn couldn't control herself from thinking too much, and she seemed to have changed completely.

Evelyn hated this side of herself; she had never thought she would become like this after being in a relationship.

But she couldn't control herself; she would always wonder what Dermot was busy with when he didn't contact her.

Or was he still in contact with that girl?

She had even considered confronting Dermot face-to-face and asking him who that girl really was, if she was just a substitute for her?

But she didn't. She tried hard to pretend that nothing had happened.

She went to work as usual, but there was always a heavy burden on her heart that she couldn't seem to shake off.

What made her even more agitated was that Dermot had been getting busier recently, and sometimes she wouldn't see him for days, which made her unable to stop thinking.

"Ruby, let's go out and chat." Helplessly, Evelyn called Ruby, feeling that if she didn't talk to someone soon, she would go crazy.

At the cafe, when Evelyn arrived, Ruby was already waiting for her there.

As soon as she saw her, Ruby noticed that Evelyn's complexion wasn't quite right, "What's wrong with you? Have you been too tired recently? Or didn't get enough rest?"

"Both." She was truly tired, and she truly didn't get enough rest.

"What's going on?" Ruby asked seriously. She had never seen Evelyn like this before and couldn't help but worry.

Evelyn took a sip of her Americano, clearing her mind a little, "It's nothing, just feeling confused."

Resting her chin on her hand, Ruby stared at Evelyn for a few seconds before speaking, "Is it because of Dermot?

Craig, on the contrary, got engaged in casual conversation from all corners of the world, momentarily relaxing himself. In the evening, Evelyn returned home and looked at the closed door of the neighboring apartment, indicating that Dermot hadn't come back yet.

She contemplated for a moment and decided to dial that man's number on her phone. They were still in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship after all, so it wouldn't be right to completely cut off contact.

After a few beeps, the call was answered. "What's up?" came Dermot's low, weary voice. Evelyn couldn't help but feel a pang of empathy.

"Still busy?" she asked.

"Yeah," he replied. "Have you eaten? Shall I bring you some?"

Knowing Dermot well, she realized he was probably so consumed with work that he had forgotten to eat. She thought Dermot would agree, considering she had brought him food before, but he turned down her offer.

"It's too late. I'll ask Todd to pick up something. You rest well, and once this busy period is over, I'll spend more time with you," he said.

"Alright," Evelyn didn't ask further, but she didn't feel quite right inside. Dermot's tone softened as if sensing her unease. "Evey, be good. I'll be done with this soon," he said.

"Okay, you get some rest too. Work is important, but your health matters more," Evelyn advised, thinking she might have been overthinking things.

Dermot was just busy; she shouldn't let herself get carried away by seeing a picture. Hanging up the phone, Evelyn walked into her home, took a shower, and lied down in bed to rest.

Recently, she hadn't been properly resting. At the Doyle family's Doyal Mansion, Dermot hung up the phone and looked at the middle-aged man in front of him, his brow furrowed.

Before he could say anything, the man spoke first, "Was that Evelyn? Haven't I warned you not to contact her again?" Dermot ignored him and turned to his grandpa Doyle, who was sitting nearby. "Grandpa, are you truly losing your mind?"
