Chapter 514 Won't You Consider My Offer?

Confidence?

Luke certainly had that.

He was always sure of himself; it was just a matter of deciding whether he wanted to throw his lot in with Evelyn.

"Here's the deal," she said, "as long as you don't harm the company's interests, I won't interfere with any decisions you make. That's my promise to you. Whether you accept or not, take your time to decide." Having said her piece, Evelyn didn't intend to push further.

If Luke still wasn't swayed after all this—still fixated on competing with Dermot—then further persuasion was pointless. It'd be better to just let him walk.

"A reason? Give me one good reason to choose you. Why would you think I'd be loyal to you?" He truly didn't understand. In Evelyn's position, shouldn't he be seen as an unpredictable variable?

If their positions were reversed, he'd send someone like himself packing immediately to prevent any trouble at his own company.

But Evelyn?

She showed no signs of wanting to get rid of him. In fact, she even entrusted him with significant responsibilities. It all seemed rather unusual.

"Who said anything about loyalty to me?" Evelyn countered with a smile. "Aren't you fighting for your own career? I'm just offering you an opportunity."

Luke couldn't help but laugh, finding her quite intriguing, "You sure have a way with words."

"So? What's your decision?" Evelyn pressed him for an answer. Though she appeared indifferent, deep down, there was a hint of concern.

If Luke decided to leave, the company's relocation plans would have to be postponed. Relying solely on Sarah wasn't an option; she'd be overwhelmed on her own.

Finding someone suitable on short notice was not an easy task these days. Reliable talent was hard to come by.

Luke was silent for some time before finally replying with an amused smile, "After all you've said, how could I refuse? It would be a disservice to your good intentions."

"Then, it's a pleasure doing business with you," Evelyn said, reaching out her hand for a shake.
Luke reached out, his hand meeting Evelyn's, and in that moment he suddenly blurted out, "Have you ever considered giving me a shot? We could run the business as a power couple. What do you think?"

Startled, Evelyn quickly withdrew her hand and stared at him as if he were a ghost, "Ha, no thanks."

"I'm serious," Luke persisted, undeterred by her reaction. "We're both single, and while I may not match the prestige of the Kyte family, I believe I am your equal in capability." His interest in Evelyn had evolved, it was no longer the same as before.

Evelyn let out a forced laugh, followed by a shake of her head. "Sorry, not interested."

"You really know how to shut someone down completely." He received no glimmer of hope from her.

"So, your disinterest is because you still have feelings for Dermot?" Luke couldn't hold back his curiosity. What was it about Dermot that captured her attention?

His question caught Evelyn off guard. Whether she still liked Dermot was unclear even to her.

If she didn't like him, his presence didn't repel her. But liking him was another story; she just wasn't in the right headspace to entertain a relationship with Dermot.

"Never mind, it seems you haven't figured it out yourself either," Luke decided not to probe further. As an outsider, he could see that Evelyn harbored feelings for Dermot, but as someone involved, it was naturally harder to see. He wouldn't point it out, as it did him no favors. In fact, he rather enjoyed the thought of Dermot missing out on happiness.

Yes, even after being persuaded by Evelyn to stay with Evelyna Fashion, his disdain for Dermot remained unchanged.
