Chapter 1014: This Is My Personal Matter
Brandon stopped thinking about it and glanced at the next room, hesitating. "Mr. Garcia, do you really like Evelyn?"
Joshua's face hardened. "Don't even think about hurting her."
Brandon had been with him for years, but Joshua wouldn't budge.
Brandon's face went pale. "You're too invested in her. It's risky."
Joshua might struggle to stay on top as a mercenary leader with such vulnerabilities.
"This is my business. Don't worry about it," Joshua said, waving him off.
Brandon stayed silent.
"Get busy," Joshua said, settling back in his wheelchair, pretending to be immobile.
Brandon's eyes flickered, but he left the room without another word.
After Brandon left, Joshua knocked on Evelyn's door.
Evelyn, lying on the unfamiliar bed, wasn't sleepy. She got up and opened the door. "What's up, Joshua?"
"What do you want for lunch? I'll have the chef make it," Joshua asked, smiling as if nothing was wrong.
Evelyn found Joshua hard to read but didn't mind. She just wanted to take care of him.
"Anything's fine; you decide," Evelyn said, not having much of an appetite.
She pushed Joshua to the kitchen, listening to him instruct the chef to make her favorite dishes.
The atmosphere was pretty harmonious. Meanwhile, Dermot was not happy.
The top international doctor Todd found had arrived in Colombia. Dermot had the doctor review Joshua's medical records first.
After looking at the records, the doctor, Leon Gray, said the condition was irrecoverable, even for him.
"Is it really that bad?" Dermot asked.
Leon nodded. "Yes, very serious. Recovery is out of the question, and even sitting in a wheelchair is tough."
"What do you mean?" Dermot frowned.
"He should be bedridden, barely able to move," Leon explained.
Dermot thought about Joshua's condition. He remembered Joshua sitting in the wheelchair without any apparent pain.
He sighed, "Alright, see the patient tonight and give him a detailed examination."
Despite the records, Dermot wasn't ready to give up. He needed a thorough check-up.
"Alright," Leon agreed, understanding his responsibility.
After arranging for Leon to rest, Dermot fell silent.
If Joshua couldn't be cured, would Evelyn have to take care of him forever?
'No way! Absolutely not!' Dermot thought.
He turned to Todd. "Keep searching for doctors. Any specialty. If they can cure Joshua, bring them to me."
He couldn't believe Joshua's injury was that tough. Joshua seemed fine, aside from the wheelchair.
"Yes, Mr. Doyle, I'll keep looking," Todd nodded. "The Doyle family has been unsettled lately, with incidents happening one after another. James can't control it, and even Mr. Randy Doyle is struggling."
