Chapter 758 The Roberts Family Must Be Destroyed
Dermot left. Since Evelyn said she didn't need, nor would he continue to pester her. Perhaps his memory hadn't fully returned, so now he didn't have deep feelings for Evelyn.
In the following days, Evelyn stayed in the hospital to recover from her injuries. She didn't pay much attention to the outside world, because she believed that Blake and Wade could handle it.
However, Evelyn didn't expect that before the Roberts family could be dealt with, another problem would arise on her end.
One day, when Michael came to change her dressing, Evelyn noticed that he wasn't her attending physician. She was a bit surprised, so she asked, "Where's Dr. Davis?"
"Dr. Davis has surgery today. I'm his intern," Michael replied, then started to remove Evelyn's bandages and change her dressing.
Evelyn was puzzled but didn't think much of it, as such situations weren't unheard of.
However, when Michael took out the medication to apply to Evelyn, she noticed a different smell.
Without any hesitation, Evelyn immediately pushed Michael away. She asked loudly, "Who are you? What are you trying to do?"
Michael feigned confusion and looked at Evelyn in confusion. He turned the question back to Evelyn, "What are you doing? Lie down, and let me change your dressing."
"Change my dressing? What is it?" Evelyn asked.
"It's just the usual anti-inflammatory drugs. You're overreacting," Michael said with a smile and intended to grab Evelyn.
By this time, Evelyn had sensed something was wrong and naturally wouldn't let him succeed. She called the bodyguards at the door immediately.
"Take him down," Evelyn ordered as she pointed at Michael. No matter what, she couldn't let him escape.
At this moment, Michael was a bit panicked. Although he wanted to run, he knew he couldn't escape in this situation and could only hope that Evelyn hadn't discovered anything.
Unfortunately, Evelyn wouldn't let him get away with it.
After Michael was subdued, she walked over to the medication and picked it up. After careful examination, her face turned pale.
"Potassium cyanide? You really want me dead," Evelyn said with lingering fear.
Hearing this, the bodyguards were all shocked.
They were assigned to protect Evelyn and couldn't let anything happen to her. They had been guarding the door vigilantly but never expected the attacker to be a doctor.
"What potassium cyanide? Don't talk nonsense," Michael denied vehemently.
Evelyn sneered, holding the medication in front of Michael. She said, "Since you won't admit it, let's try it on you. After all, you said it's just anti-inflammatory, right? If that's true, you should be fine."
With that, she moved to apply the medication to Michael's face.
Before Evelyn could touch him, Michael was so scared that he knelt down.
"I was wrong," Michael pleaded because he knew better than anyone what the medication really was.
Evelyn sneered and ordered, "Take him to the police station. Make sure to find out who's behind this."
Actually, there was no need to investigate. Evelyn knew that it was either the Roberts family or Dora behind this. Since they were all in it together, it didn't matter who it was.
Evelyn had heard that the situation with the Roberts family was already in crisis. They were probably making a last-ditch effort against her.
They had just handed over evidence. With Michael's testimony, the Roberts family would be even more cornered.
However, Evelyn had her own concerns.
The group of mercenaries still hadn't been found, and there was no sign of them. She didn't know what they were planning.
Evelyn was very worried that those people might act recklessly, as they were a group of armed desperados.
While she was worrying about it, on the other side, Blake had learned about the attempt on Evelyn's life. Even though he knew she was safe, he couldn't help but feel a lingering fear.
"We can't delay any longer. The Roberts family must be destroyed," he said.
