Chapter 856 Love Rat
If Evelyn didn't like it, she should've shoved Dermot away and slapped him right then and there.
But she didn't. Instead, her heart raced, and her cheeks turned even redder, like a ripe apple.
When she finally snapped out of it and wanted to slap him, Dermot leaned in for another kiss, not giving her the chance.
His unique scent filled the air between them, leaving Evelyn dizzy and disoriented.
From behind came a voice, "I told you this was a good spot for a kiss. Look at them, even bolder than us." It was probably from the couple they had seen earlier.
Evelyn's face turned crimson as she forcefully pushed Dermot away and quickly walked ahead.
Dermot glanced at the couple nearby and nodded. If it weren't for them, he and Evelyn might not have gotten this far.
He quickly caught up with Evelyn, who was now by the brightly lit street, making it impossible to do anything further.
Dermot cleared his throat and walked up to her. "It's late. Let me take you home."
"Okay," Evelyn replied, following him towards the restaurant.
Both of them acted like nothing had happened, at least in Evelyn's eyes. Dermot seemed serious, showing no signs of his earlier wild behavior.
She felt a bit upset that he kissed her and then acted like nothing happened.
Evelyn cursed in her mind, 'Love rat.'
Dermot had no idea what she was thinking. He just felt that if he brought up what had just happened, it would only make Evelyn more embarrassed, so he pretended nothing happened.
Before long, they reached the restaurant entrance where Dermot's car was parked.
Dermot opened the passenger door for Evelyn. "Get in."
Evelyn silently got in.
The car quickly started, and Dermot drove her to Kyte Manor. As Evelyn's figure was about to disappear, he suddenly shouted, "Evelyn! I'm serious!"
Evelyn didn't look back. She thought, 'Who cares if you're serious or not? I don't care!'
It wasn't until Evelyn was out of sight that Dermot got back into the car, now back to his usual self, with no trace of the earlier impulsiveness.
But if you looked closely, you could still see the joy in Dermot's eyes.
In her bedroom, Evelyn lay on her bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
That kiss seemed etched in her mind. Every time she closed her eyes, the scene would reappear, so real she could almost feel the warmth on her lips.
Evelyn felt she must have been bewitched by Dermot. She needed to distract herself.
She sat up and called Ruby.
The phone rang for a long time before Ruby answered, "Ms. Kyte, what's up calling me so late?"
"I just missed you and wanted to check on you," Evelyn said.
But Ruby wasn't a fool, and she asked, "Am I mishearing? Something must have happened. Spill it. What happened?"
Ruby wouldn't believe that Evelyn would call her so late without a reason.
