Chapter 541 Be Rescued

With a loud thud, Evelyn was sent flying by a powerful kick, ending up sprawled on the ground. She struggled to get up.

Her attacker was ruthless, with clear intent to end her life. Despair crept over Evelyn as she realized she stood no chance.

Regret filled her heart. She used to think she was a decent fighter, but reality had proven her wrong. There were plenty of others with far superior skills. She was just a small fry.

Her opponent quickly closed in. Evelyn, kneeling on the ground with acute pain in her abdomen, couldn’t even stand straight.

"How much did they pay you? I'll double it," Evelyn proposed, clinging to a shred of hope despite knowing it probably wouldn’t work.

As expected, her offer did nothing to sway the assailant, who pulled out a dagger and, without hesitation, swung it towards her.

Evelyn, anticipating the strike, swiftly dodged backward, but the attacker was relentless. It wasn't long before her back suffered a slash from the blade.

Despite the pain, Evelyn knew she needed to escape immediately, or she would really meet her end here.

She couldn't pin her hopes on that call anymore. She wasn't even sure whom she had reached, let alone if the call had successfully gone through.

Injured and overpowered, Evelyn knew her chances of escaping were slim.

In no time at all, she was brought down again. This time, she found herself unable to rise.

As her assailant approached with the dagger in hand, Evelyn resignedly closed her eyes. Her heart was filled with unyielding resistance, and yet she knew she was powerless. She didn't expect to meet her end like this.

Just as the dagger was about to pierce her neck, a figure suddenly appeared from the right and kicked the attacker away.

"Evelyn!" Kevin's eyes narrowed as he saw her bloodied form, his heart aching tremendously.

Before losing consciousness, Evelyn saw Kevin's face.

She smiled and thought, “Finally, someone came to my rescue.”

She slipped into unconsciousness soon after, succumbing to the darkness of a deep coma.

Meanwhile, Dermot was entrenched in business troubles. His company was cornered by a major crisis, courtesy of the Roberts family.

Poring over documents, a sudden stab of pain shook him—sharp as a knife thrust to the heart.

Brows furrowing, he was puzzled.

A wave of unrest crescendoed within him, suggesting something had gone very wrong, though he couldn't pinpoint what that might be.

The only source of his worries, the only person who mattered to him, was Evelyn.

With that in mind, he whipped out his cell phone and called her.

But no one picked up, and when he tried again, her phone had been turned off. That worried him.

Just then, Todd entered the office. "Mr. Doyle, the meeting is about to start. We should head over."

Dermot, still seated, clung to his uneasy feeling, "Can you find out where she is?"

"You mean Ms. Kyte?" Todd asked and added, "With the Kyte family backing her, she's probably fine, right?"

Dermot knew this well but couldn't shake his concern. He stood up, ready to seek her out personally.

At that moment, Todd blocked his path with a serious face. "Mr. Doyle, today's meeting is critical. You know the state of our company."

As his assistant, Todd was in no position to stop Dermot from leaving. But the Doyle Group was truly struggling, and every move Dermot made had to be careful. Thus, Todd couldn't just stand by and watch him make a mistake.
