Chapter 24

"But..."

"That's fine, Aidan. I don't like them very much actually," Evelyn said with a smile. Earrings were dispensable to her.

Since Aidan didn't bid again, Dermot won the earrings. Everyone was impressed by Dermot's richness!

Cassie was also excited. She never expected that Dermot would take such a precious thing as a gift for her, so she felt a little excited but also nervous.

However, the earrings were not delivered to her.

After making the payment, Dermot whispered a few words in the waiter's ear. Then, the waiter walked up to Evelyn and said in a moderate voice, "Hello, Miss. Mr. Doyle said he would give you these earrings to express his gratitude."

Dermot gave the earrings to Evelyn!

Everyone who heard it was shocked and couldn't help wondering, 'Those earrings are worth 10 million dollars. He just gave them to her like that? Who's that woman? Isn't she Aidan's sister? She also knows Dermot? What about Dermot's own sister?'

Confused, they finally had to admit that the relationship among the four was messy.

Evelyn didn't accept it, and there wasn't even a hint of joy on her face. She frowned and looked at Dermot as if asking him what he meant.

"Just a little piece of dirt to me. You saved Cassie. Her life is worth more than it." Dermot clearly meant that this was his reward for saving Cassie.

When speaking, Dermot didn't look at Cassie, and naturally, he didn't see her pale face.

'Just because she saved my life, you gave her this expensive gift. Really, Dermot?' Cassie asked quietly in her heart.

She suddenly felt unfamiliar with Dermot and panicked for no reason.

"No need. I've already got what I want," Evelyn refused without any hesitation.

Dermot felt furious immediately. This was not Evelyn's first rejection of him. "Do you really wanna piss me off?"

"I don't understand, Mr. Doyle." Evelyn looked at him with cold eyes. "We're not that close. Please don't do such misleading behaviors."

The people behind them stared at them curiously, eager to know about their relationship.

Evelyn's words completely angered Dermot. He stood up abruptly, flames bursting in his eyes, "Good! Very good!"

He hadn't been so irritated for a long time.

Then, Dermot left. Others didn't know what had happened. They only felt the chill coming from Dermot, making them shiver.

'Looks like that woman just pissed Dermot off,' most people thought.

For a moment, everyone looked at Evelyn with strange eyes, curious, admiring, but mostly sympathetic.

They sighed inwardly, 'She pissed Dermot off. That's gonna end badly for her.'

However, Evelyn looked indifferently. She stared at the stage, waiting for the next item.

On the second floor, Dermot sat in the box. With a look of anger, he picked up the glass, rotated it, and drank it with one gulp.

"You lost your temper." Craig, sitting across from him, also held a wine glass. His low voice made people shudder.

"Well." Dermot didn't deny it. He was indeed a little out of control tonight.

Clearly, every time he faced Evelyn, he would lose control.

Craig looked downstairs. "Who is that woman? You seem a bit..."

Craig didn't finish his words, but his eyes showed a bit of playfulness. He had known Dermot for many years and rarely saw him like this.

He thought, 'All because of a woman? How interesting it is!'

"The doctor who saved Cassie," Dermot replied, coldness flashing in his dark eyes. "For some reason, I always feel she's full of hostility toward me."

"Oh?" Craig became interested. "Women who are hostile to you are rare."

'Perhaps that's why he cares so much,' Craig guessed inwardly.

"Craig, I wanna know everything about her. I don't think she's some nobody," Dermot said, taking another glass of wine.

Craig nodded. "I'll help. Maybe there's really someone behind her."

While the two were talking, something happened at the auction downstairs, making the scene a little noisy.
