Chapter 1306: There Better Not Be a Next Time

The next day, Evelyn dragged this girl she had in mind to meet Aidan.

Right now, nothing was more crucial than finding a match for Aidan; she didn't want him to actually go to a Catholic church and become a clergyman.

"Aidan, this is Anita Glenn," Evelyn introduced, all eager.

Aidan looked up at Evelyn and Anita, feeling kinda awkward. "Hey, nice to meet you, Ms. Glenn."

"Hey, Aidan, we've met before." Anita was totally floored when she got Evelyn's call and couldn't believe she'd actually call her.

After hearing the whole story, she was even more confused.

Evelyn actually wanted to set her up with Aidan; it was nuts.

But she still chose to trust Evelyn.

It wasn't until she saw Aidan in person that she realized Evelyn wasn't joking and genuinely wanted to set them up.

Aidan was puzzled; he had no memory of Anita.

Anita smiled and explained, "We met at a party once."

At that time, she had greeted Aidan, but he didn't respond.

Although Aidan's company wasn't top-tier in Golombia, he was still liked by many wealthy young ladies. They all thought he had great potential and would have a bright future.

Moreover, he was very handsome; no one would refuse a man like him.

"Oh, really? Sorry, I don't remember." Aidan wasn't interested in Anita; he'd come today because of Evelyn's request.

Their conversation was a bit awkward. Despite Evelyn's efforts to bring up fun topics to keep the atmosphere lively, she ultimately failed.

As they walked out of the restaurant, Anita spoke up before Evelyn could say anything, "He doesn't seem to like me."

"Well..."

"I know, it's just not meant to be between us." Anita wasn't upset; after all, blind dates could turn out this way probably, and there was no need to be sad about it.

Evelyn sighed, "Sorry to make you come all this way for nothing."

"It wasn't for nothing; I got something out of it, didn't they?" Anita smiled. She didn't come for the blind date for free; the Glenn Group got a project from Evelyn, so they didn't lose anything.

After parting ways with Anita, Evelyn turned back into the restaurant where Aidan was still sitting.

"Aidan, don't you think Ms. Glenn is nice?" Evelyn pouted, pretending to be unhappy.

"She's nice, but she has nothing to do with me," Aidan replied, continuing to eat.

Evelyn disagreed and immediately retorted, "How can you say she has nothing to do with you? If you wanted, you could be together right away."

Aidan looked up at her, as if to confirm whether she was joking.

Evelyn gave a dry laugh, realizing her words were a bit childish. "Aidan, you should think about yourself for once."

"Evelyn, I understand your concern, but some things can't be forced. Besides, I don't want to be in a relationship right now." Aidan felt it necessary to clarify things with Evelyn to prevent her from constantly trying to set him up with other women. He didn’t want to keep dealing with such matters.

"Aidan, why don't you give it a try? What if it works out?" Evelyn sighed, feeling a bit desperate.

Aidan shook his head without any hesitation. "There's no 'what if,' Evelyn. Don't do this again."

"Aidan." Evelyn watched him get up to leave, feeling a bit worried.

Aidan turned back to look at her and decided to say, "You don't need to worry about me. Whatever decisions I make in the future will be ones that make me happy. You should be happy for me."

With that, Aidan left, and Evelyn sat there.

She knew Aidan was right, but the thought of him becoming a clergyman just didn't make her happy.
