Chapter 1118: You Really Want to Go
Evelyn had just wrapped everything up when she heard Joshua coming down the stairs. She took a deep breath, opened the door, and headed his way.
"Up so early?" Joshua asked, looking a bit surprised.
"Didn't you tell me to get up early?" Evelyn shot back, trying to hide the excitement bubbling inside her.
Joshua grinned and led her to the dining table. "No need to be up this early. You could've slept in."
"Nah, I'm good. Not that tired," Evelyn replied, thinking if she went back to bed, Joshua might leave without her.
"You're really itching to go, huh?" Joshua handed her a sandwich, asking casually.
Evelyn nodded, not denying it. "Being stuck on this island every day makes me feel cut off from the world. Of course, I wanna go."
Joshua opened his mouth to apologize but knew it wouldn't mean much.
They quickly finished breakfast, and Joshua took Evelyn to board the helicopter.
This time, Evelyn wasn't as freaked out as the first time.
After landing in Danista, Joshua had stuff to do but didn't want to leave Evelyn alone, so he had Brandon tag along with her.
Evelyn knew Joshua's "worry" wasn't about her safety but about her running off.
She didn't argue because she knew it wouldn't help and would just tick Joshua off. She didn't want to get sent back to the island before even leaving the airport; that would suck.
After Joshua left, Brandon stood next to Evelyn, looking a bit annoyed. "Where do you wanna go?"
"The mall, duh. The one we hit up last time was pretty cool. Let's see if they've got any new stuff," Evelyn said with a smile, already heading towards the airport exit.
Just like last time, as soon as Joshua's plane touched down at Danista Airport, Dermot got the scoop. So when he saw Evelyn walk into the same mall and the same store, he knew she had something to tell him.
After Evelyn left, he quickly found the salesperson and got the note Evelyn had written. After reading it, he paid her a hefty sum and left, feeling pretty pleased.
He wasn't worried about Joshua checking out the salesperson, as she was a local who'd lived there for decades, and her identity was legit.
Meanwhile, the salesperson was strapped for cash.
And Dermot just happened to have plenty of it.
Evelyn wandered around the mall, picking up a few clothes.
They had lunch at the mall, and she left reluctantly.
But instead of heading straight back to the island, Brandon took her to Joshua's workplace.
Just like Joshua had said, he had set up a company, and it looked pretty impressive.
If Evelyn didn't know what shady stuff he was up to, she might've actually believed he was clean.
"Done shopping?" Joshua asked, looking at Evelyn slouched on the couch, a bit helpless.
He could tell her morning enthusiasm had fizzled out.
Evelyn nodded, leaning back. "Yeah, nothing much to see. The clothes were the same, and not many were nice."
"Then when we get a chance, I'll take you to Lorland. It's more happening there," Joshua smiled at her. After all, Evelyn hadn't been here long, and it was normal for her to feel out of place.
Evelyn responded half-heartedly, not really buying it.
