Chapter 955: You Haven't Thought Enough
At the restaurant, Evelyn and Dermot had already picked their seats and were waiting for Ruby and Alex.
"Hey, you invited Alex, right? Did he say he'd come?" Evelyn finally asked Dermot. If Alex didn't show, today would be a bust.
Dermot gave her a helpless smile. "Don't you trust me? You really think I couldn't get him to come?"
Alex was tough to sway and didn't like mingling with the upper class, but guys understand each other to some extent.
Considering the benefits, Alex was unlikely to refuse. Plus, with Ruby coming, he'd be even less likely to say no.
Just as Dermot was thinking this, Alex showed up at the entrance with Ruby, making Evelyn smile instantly.
"Ruby, Mr. Morris," Evelyn waved them over to sit.
They walked over. Ruby sat next to Evelyn, and Alex naturally sat beside Dermot.
Dermot and Alex just nodded at each other in greeting.
"Ruby, how'd you two end up coming together?" Evelyn asked, curious since the Kite family wasn't on the way to the police station.
Ruby glanced at Alex, who then said, "I went to pick up Ruby."
Evelyn was surprised. She'd been thinking of setting them up, but it seemed unnecessary now.
"Mr. Morris, you really care about Ruby," Evelyn teased, and everyone got the hint.
Ruby quickly waved her hand, slightly annoyed. "You've got it wrong. Alex just wanted to ask me about some other classmates, so he came to pick me up."
Alex smiled faintly and didn't explain further. "Just call me Alex. Since you're Ruby's friend, you're my friend too," he told Evelyn.
Evelyn's lips curled up, thinking, 'Oh, come on. I didn't misunderstand. Ruby, maybe you're the one who's got it wrong.'
"Alright, Alex," Evelyn nodded. Getting closer to Alex was a good thing.
After ordering, they started chatting. Evelyn mostly asked Alex questions to understand what kind of person he was and if he was worth Ruby's affection.
The more she learned, the more satisfied she was with Alex, and a smile appeared on her face.
Even if Ruby was a bit slow, she could tell what Evelyn meant. Her cheeks flushed slightly, and she pulled Evelyn up. "You guys keep chatting. We're going to the restroom."
Without waiting for Evelyn to speak, Ruby pulled her toward the restroom.
Once they left, a hush settled over the table. Alex and Dermot weren't familiar with each other and had little to talk about.
However, Dermot had a reason for meeting Alex today. So he asked, "Mr. Morris, have you thought about your future?"
Alex looked at him. "Of course, Mr. Doyle. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have accepted your invitation."
Alex had some guesses about why Dermot invited him for a meal.
"Really? But I think even if it wasn't my invitation, you'd come if you knew Ruby was here." If it was just a guess before, now Dermot was sure Alex had feelings for Ruby.
This didn't really concern him, and he was even happy to see it.
But Dermot thought of Craig, who was his friend, and he felt he should stand by him.
