Chapter 931: Waiting for the Right Moment
In a big villa on the west side of town, Ruby woke up, looking around at the unfamiliar room. It took her a moment to realize she'd been kidnapped.
Kidnapped? She couldn't believe it. She didn't think she had anything worth stealing.
Soon, an old man walked in.
Ruby didn't know him but asked, "Who are you? Why am I here?"
"Ms. Kite, don't worry. Mr. Doyle just invited you over. He means no harm," Zachary said.
No harm? Ruby doubted that.
But she didn't argue. As long as he didn't seem dangerous, she thought it best not to provoke him. She wasn't ready to die.
"Why kidnap me?" she asked, genuinely confused.
Zachary glanced at her but didn't answer. "If there's nothing else, Ms. Kite, please rest. You'll leave soon."
He left some food and walked out.
As the door closed, Ruby saw several bodyguards outside. No chance of escaping.
She walked to the window. Below was a small garden and lots of woods. Nothing else.
She didn't know where she was or where her phone was. She felt she shouldn't just sit there.
But what could she do?
She went back to her spot and sat quietly, not doing anything rash.
She had to wait for the right moment.
When Evelyn arrived at the address, she was surprised to see an old, abandoned estate.
As she hesitated, the gate opened, and Zachary walked out. "Ms. Kyte, please come in."
Evelyn then recognized him. He was Randy's butler.
She quickly understood. They weren't after her but likely Dermot. If it was just her, she would've left immediately. But Ruby was missing, and she couldn't just walk away.
Zachary, knowing she wouldn't leave, waited patiently.
Evelyn decided. "Where's Ruby? I need to see her first."
"Your friend is safe," Zachary repeated.
"I must see her." She needed to confirm Ruby was okay.
Zachary showed her a surveillance feed on his phone. "Look, your friend is safe."
In the footage, Ruby was in a nicely furnished room, not in this rundown place. Evelyn felt uneasy.
"Ruby isn't here?" Evelyn asked.
Zachary nodded. "Ms. Kite is in a safe place."
Evelyn was furious. They had separated them on purpose.
She stopped watching. Confirming Ruby was safe was enough. She believed Randy wasn't going to harm Ruby, just using her to threaten Evelyn.
She walked into the estate. Whatever awaited her, she had no choice.
