Chapter 1198: I Was Too Impatient

Nathaniel finally got talked into leaving by Oscar, but he made Oscar promise to keep him in the loop about Bella every day. Dude was still kinda worried.

Oscar was cool with it, knowing it was way easier to keep up the act over the phone.

Meanwhile, Evelyn and the crew had already hopped on a private jet to Golombia, with Bella in disguise.

On the plane, Bella spotted Blake again.

He'd been eyeing the boarding gate like a hawk, and the second he saw Bella, he made a beeline for her. "Bella."

"Blake." Bella gritted her teeth, emotions hitting her like a freight train.

Evelyn glanced at them and cut in at the worst possible moment, "Sit down first, the plane's about to take off. You guys can chat later."

Both Bella and Blake felt a bit awkward. They'd been so hyped they forgot there were other people around.

Everyone found their seats, and Bella plopped down next to Blake. As the plane took off, Seabrook City shrank below them. She felt this massive wave of relief. Finally, she was ditching the city that had been her prison for so long.

"Bella, you good?" Blake asked, noticing she seemed a bit off.

Bella snapped out of it and grinned. "I'm awesome, never better."

She'd thought Nathaniel would have her locked down forever, but now she had a shot at freedom. If she wasn't worried about looking nuts, she might've laughed out loud.

She was genuinely stoked.

But she hadn't lost her marbles.

"Evelyn, how'd you get Oscar to help out? He always hated me." Bella was seriously shocked Oscar had her back.

Evelyn looked at her. "He wasn't helping me; he was looking out for himself."

Bella was confused, so Evelyn broke down the plan.

Once Nathaniel was behind bars, Bella would file for divorce, and Nathaniel wouldn't have a choice but to go along with it.

Bella felt a pang of sadness. "Evelyn, I'm sorry. I owe you big time, but you're still helping me. Thanks."

"It's no biggie. I've had a pretty decent life these years." Evelyn shrugged it off, not really feeling any special bond with Bella.

The only reason she even looked for Bella was 'cause Blake pushed for it. Honestly, she didn't really care how Bella had been living all these years.

Her words made Bella feel even worse. "Evelyn, I..."

Blake squeezed her hand and whispered, "Don't rush it. Take it slow. When I first brought her back, she was like this too, but she came around."

"Yeah, you're right. I'm being too pushy." Bella was so desperate to hear Evelyn call her mom that she was rushing things.

She hadn't been there for Evelyn growing up, and now she was expecting instant closeness. Bella knew she was asking too much.

"You're right; take it slow." Bella calmed down and turned to Evelyn again. "Thanks, Evelyn."

Evelyn looked up at her but didn't say a word.
