Chapter 757 Not Necessary
Dermot didn't know what she was thinking, but hearing her words made him feel bad. He couldn't help but explain, "Margaret and I..."
"Mr. Doyle, I'm not interested in your relationship with Ms. Martin." She didn't want to listen, afraid that it would hurt even more, "Do you have anything else to say? If not, please leave. I'm tired."
Dermot wanted to explain that he and Margaret were just colleagues, but seeing Evelyn like this, he swallowed his words.
"I actually came here today for a reason," Dermot said.
Evelyn looked up at him. Her emotions were extremely complicated.
'So he only comes to me because he needs something.' Evelyn mocked inwardly.
"You know about my amnesia. I saw a doctor, and they said I have a blood clot in my brain. It pressed on a nerve and caused the memory loss," Dermot said, glancing at Evelyn before continuing, "No doctor in Golombia dares to perform this surgery. I contacted a renowned neurosurgeon internationally, and he recommended you."
The internationally renowned neurosurgeon was actually Evelyn's mentor. Knowing that Evelyn was also in Golombia, he had recommended Evelyn, because he was fully confident in his student's abilities.
Hearing this, Evelyn understood and guessed that he had most likely contacted her mentor. She wasn't surprised.
"So you came today to ask me to perform the surgery?" asked Evelyn.
"Yes," Dermot nodded.
"You only come to me when you have need." Evelyn couldn't help but mock herself.
Just a moment ago, she had thought Dermot felt guilty and came to visit her to apologize. She didn't expect it to be about this.
She thought she shouldn't have expected anything.
Sensing her misunderstanding, Dermot quickly explained, "I mainly came to visit you today. The surgery is just a side matter."
Evelyn chuckled, and even though she said nothing, Dermot could tell she didn't believe him.
"There's no problem with performing the surgery for you, Mr. Doyle, but are you really that confident in me? Aren't you afraid I might do something during the operation?"
Brain surgery was extremely risky, especially in Dermot's case, which required a craniotomy. It would be dangerous at any time.
Dermot wasn't worried at all, then stated, "I trust you."
Evelyn chuckled again. She thought to herself that while he trusted her, she wasn't sure she trusted him.
However, since it was her mentor's recommendation, Evelyn couldn't refuse. She accepted it, "I can do it, but not right now."
"No rush, we'll talk about it when you're better." He really just came to check on Evelyn today and casually ask about the surgery.
Knowing Evelyn didn't believe him, he didn't press the issue.
Evelyn nodded. "You can go now. Come find me after I'm discharged."
"Okay," Dermot nodded as he said.
Before leaving, he took some documents from his bag and handed them to Evelyn, "These are the files on those mercenaries. They're quite notorious internationally, ruthless in their actions, and have never failed. They failed in their attempt to kill you, and I don't think they'll give up easily."
He didn't care what the Roberts family intended to do by bringing these people into the country, likely illegal activities.
He was just worried about Evelyn, afraid she couldn't handle it.
"I have some skilled people on my side. If you need..."
Before Dermot could finish, Evelyn directly refused, "No need,"
She had her own resources, so she didn't need Dermot's help.
If word got out, people might think she had feelings for Dermot.
It didn't matter before, but now that Dermot had a girlfriend, she didn't want to be labeled as a homewrecker.
