Chapter 885 Who Do You Think You Are?

Evelyn didn't continue the topic but finally asked about Lucia. "I heard Lucia didn't leave with Dora?"

"Yeah." Wade nodded, smiling. "I knew you'd ask about that."

Evelyn said, "I'm really curious. If I don't ask, I'll worry."

Evelyn didn't think much of Lucia, feeling she wasn't good enough for Wade. But if Wade liked her, there wasn't much Evelyn could do. She was worried about this possibility, which was why she was so eager to ask.

Wade ate and stared out the window as if he was thinking about how to answer her. Evelyn got anxious.

After a while, Wade finally said, "Honestly, I just think having a free nanny is nice. I'm not losing out, so why should I refuse?"

"Wade, you don't need a free nanny," Evelyn reminded him. That reason seemed weak.

Wade added, "Besides, letting Lucia leave easily would be too good for her. Keeping her here is a kind of punishment."

Evelyn looked at him seriously.

Wade noticed her serious look and was surprised. "Why that face? You think I like Lucia?" He laughed. "Don't worry. There's no way I'd like someone like her."

Since Wade said that, Evelyn had no reason to push further. Even though they were close, she couldn't interfere too much.

If Wade did end up liking Lucia, Evelyn would have to seriously consider if she could face Lucia calmly  every time she saw her. She was worried that she might want to punch herinstead.

After their meal, they parted ways. Evelyn was in the car heading back to Kyte Manor when Blake called.

As usual, Blake asked about her day. Evelyn said she was fine and learned he had found some clues. Though she thought they weren't enough to find her mom, she said nothing.

She felt Blake was doing well now. Having a goal made him seem more energetic.

Meanwhile, when Wade returned to his villa, Lucia was waiting on the couch. Seeing him, she quickly got up. "Why are you back so late? The food's cold. I'll heat it up."

Wade said indifferently, "No need. I've already eaten."

Lucia was stunned and felt a bit hurt. "Next time, if you're eating out, can you let me know? Otherwise, I..."

"Lucia, do you expect me to report my schedule to you? Who do you think you are?" Wade sneered.

He sat on the couch, mocking, "If you're a servant, act like one. I can eat wherever I want. It's none of your business."

Lucia muttered, "I'm not trying to control you."

She didn't know what was wrong with Wade. He was gentle a few days ago, but now he was cold again.

"Come here." Wade beckoned her to sit next to him.

Lucia's heart raced as she nervously sat down. "What's wrong?"

Wade didn't answer but gently brushed her face, lifting a strand of hair. "Evelyn thinks I kept you here because I like you. Isn't that ridiculous?"
