Chapter 932: Do You Even Need to Ask

The manor scene wasn't what she expected. She thought there'd be blood or a bunch of bodyguards, but nope.

Zachary took her to a small villa inside the manor. Despite the rundown exterior, this villa was in good shape, clearly well-kept.

There was another similar villa nearby. Evelyn figured someone lived there, using the shabby look as a cover.

She saw bodyguards outside a room on the second floor of the nearby villa and guessed Ruby might be there.

Seemed likely, and she made a mental note to check it out if she got the chance.

Zachary led her inside, where she met Randy, the man behind the scenes.

"Ms. Kyte, have a seat," Randy said, nodding at her, which was pretty polite.

Evelyn stayed quiet and sat down.

After a moment, Randy, curious about her silence, asked, "Ms. Kyte, aren't you going to ask why I brought you here?"

"Do I need to?" Evelyn smiled at Randy. It was pretty obvious, wasn't it?

She had no beef with the Doyle family or Randy. No reason for him to target her.

The only possibility was that Randy wasn't after her but someone else.

Randy wasn't mad at her response and smiled. "You're smart. No wonder so many people like you."

"What do you plan to do?" Evelyn asked.

"I know what you're thinking. You think I can't afford to lose, right?" Randy didn't answer her question but spoke like a friend.

Evelyn frowned, not quite getting him.

Randy smiled and continued, "I didn't expect things to get this far. I was too confident, thinking no one could match my son and grandson."

His son and grandson grew up in the Doyle family, with unmatched skills. He thought they'd win, even if it took some effort, which was what he wanted.

But things spiraled out of control, and he had to step in.

Evelyn looked at him and said, "Is it so important who inherits the Doyle family? Dermot is also part of the Doyle family. If he takes over, he'll make the family flourish. Isn't that what you want?"

"Of course, I want the Doyle family to prosper, but Dermot is an outsider." To him, Dermot was an outsider.

Randy felt that once he was gone, Dermot's character would mean his son and grandson wouldn't stand a chance at running the Doyle Group.

This was everything he had fought for, and he wouldn't hand it over now.

Evelyn knew she couldn't change his mind and stopped trying. "Are you sure killing Dermot won't hurt the Doyle family's future?"

"Not necessarily," Randy shook his head, a bit helpless. "But if I don't kill him, the Doyle family won't stay under my lineage's control."

So, he had no choice.

"In that case, I have nothing more to say." Evelyn stopped talking, looking calm, like she wasn't worried at all.

This puzzled Randy. This wasn't the reaction he expected. "Aren't you worried about Dermot? Do you not care, or are you too confident in him?"
