Chapter 1031: Afraid to Take Risks

"I bet Randy's gonna ask for my help soon," Dermot said confidently. "Unless he's okay with the Doyle family's influence fading."

Evelyn gave him a thumbs-up. "You're awesome!"

"Yeah, but I always end up losing when it comes to you," Dermot sighed. He always had to back down when Evelyn was involved.

Evelyn rolled her eyes. "It's late. I'm going to bed."

"Alright." Dermot didn't say more. They exchanged goodnights and hung up. Evelyn drew the curtains, and despite Dermot's reluctance, he left.

As he was about to close his curtains, he noticed Joshua had been watching him.

Joshua couldn't hear their conversation but could tell Dermot was talking to Evelyn.

Dermot smirked and waved at Joshua before drawing the curtains.

Joshua's face turned red with anger; Dermot was clearly showing off.

But Joshua couldn't do much about it. Golombia wasn't his turf. Trying to kill Dermot was risky, especially if Evelyn found out. He didn't have the guts to go through with it.

If Evelyn found out, she'd never forgive him. They wouldn't be together, and she might even hate him.

Dermot was right. On New Year's Eve, he was called back to Doyle Manor.

He had just picked up his grandfather from the airport when the Doyle family butler called. Dermot's smile showed his good mood.

"What's up?" Henry asked, noticing the smile.

"Perfect timing. The Doyle family wants me to come over." Dermot was already helping his grandfather into the car.

As the car started, Henry frowned. "Are you sure they're handing over the Doyle family to you?"

"Of course, they have no choice." Dermot had checked the Doyle Group's stock that morning; it had plummeted. Without a solution, the Doyle family would face huge losses.

Henry stayed calm. "Since they called, go."

He wasn't interested in the Doyle family's wealth. Being kicked out had left him frustrated.

Now, with his grandson about to help him vent that frustration, Henry felt content.

If he had any regrets, it was that Dermot wasn't married yet.

But he knew these things couldn't be rushed. He just hoped to live long enough to see Dermot get married.

As for having a great-grandson, he didn't even dare to dream about it.

After dropping Henry off at home, Dermot drove to Doyle Manor. Before leaving, he told Evelyn that Henry had arrived and suggested she visit him if she had time.

Dermot had dropped Henry off at the villa next to Joshua's, making it easy for Evelyn to visit.

Evelyn didn't know Dermot's little scheme. When she found out Henry lived next door, she told Joshua and decided to visit Henry.

It had been a while since she last saw Henry. Before moving to Golombia, she remembered his health wasn't great. She wondered how he was doing now.
