Chapter 1139: They're Getting Married

The two strolled into the mall, arms linked, chatting about Evelyn's latest drama. When she heard the whole story, she couldn't help but blurt out, "Joshua's such a jerk. Does he really think pulling this crap will make you stay?"

Being Evelyn's ride-or-die for years, she knew Evelyn wouldn't cave in, even if she was stuck for a bit. Falling for Joshua? Not a chance.

Evelyn gave a bitter smile. She couldn't wrap her head around Joshua's motives, but after all these years, it was clear he didn't get her at all.

"So, what's the deal with you and Dermot? You didn't just say yes 'cause he saved your butt, right?" She knew Evelyn wasn't that rash. If gratitude was all it took, she'd have been with Joshua ages ago.

Evelyn paused, then said, "I guess it was just meant to be with Dermot. If Joshua hadn't messed things up, we might've been together sooner."

Back then, she was ready to be with Dermot, but Joshua's drama delayed everything.

Ruby thought they made a good pair but couldn't help saying, "I never would've guessed you two would end up together. Fate's wild, huh?"

Evelyn smiled.

"Dermot treats you right, and being with him ain't bad at all." Ruby could see Dermot looked at Evelyn like he never wanted to let her go.

Honestly, she was a bit jealous.

Love was something to dream about.

Evelyn switched gears and asked about Ruby and Alex, "What about you and Alex? Any sparks flying?"

"Same old, same old. He's busy, and when he's not, we just grab food or catch a movie." Alex hadn't said he liked her, nor had he made any moves.

She had feelings for him, but she couldn't be the one to spill the beans, right?

"Oh, by the way, Sarah and Keith are getting hitched. She asked me to go wedding dress shopping with her the other day," Ruby suddenly said.

Evelyn was stunned. "Getting married? Already? How come I didn't know?"

"Probably 'cause you weren't back yet, so she didn't call you." Ruby and Sarah met through Evelyn, and naturally, Sarah was closer to Evelyn. Trying on wedding dresses was something she should've asked Evelyn to do.

But Evelyn was out of the country, and Sarah didn't know when she'd be back, so she asked Ruby instead.

Still, the two got along well enough. Even when Evelyn wasn't around, they'd occasionally shop or grab coffee together.

Evelyn pouted, feeling a mix of emotions. "She and Keith haven't been dating long, right? How'd they decide to tie the knot so fast?"

"Sarah said when you meet the right person, it's just a matter of time before you get married." Ruby didn't know what Sarah was thinking, but seeing her so happy now, she knew Keith must be treating her right.

Hearing this, Evelyn thought about what Dermot had said about marriage before. She figured they should take it slow, with marriage as the endgame.

But news of Sarah and Keith's wedding made her wonder if she was overthinking it.
